We're going to California for Thanksgiving week and I was wondering about any special things that may be going on at DL or DCA that week. We'll probably only go to the parks for 2 or 3 days, so which days should we go?

I've heard the park is "transformed" overnight on Thanksgiving and the day after it is decorated for Christmas. Is this true and if so, is it unbearably crowded that day?

Any info you could give me would be helpful. Thanks!

We were there this last Thanksgiving. I don't the transformation is as dramatic as it once was, as Haunted Mansion Holiday and Small Workd Holiday start before Thanksgiving.

Definitely do the Thanksgiving Family Buffet at the Disneyland Hotel - if I recall, reservations are 60 days out (do check!). It was wonderful - load of characters posing for picture, live music, and endless food (don't miss the chocolate fountain!)

We had a great time there.

Yes Disneyland is very crowded during Thanksgiving. I believe the Christmas Parade and Santa Claus visits beging on that day. The park no longer is "magically transformed." They begin decorating in October (even before Halloween  )

The weekend of Thanksgiving will defiently be very crowded. The Monday after Thanksgiving is pretty light.

It was decorated the weekend before when I was there last year and almost all the christmas stuff had started (Small World/HMH/Parade/Fireworks) It was a great time to be there-

So, there's no special "Thanksgiving" stuff at DL, just the early turnover to Christmas? Could I call guest services in CA to get any special event info?

Is it better to go to the parks before or after Thanksgiving Day in terms of the crowds, or doesn't it matter?

Thanks again...TJ

Since most school will let out for a 2 or 3 day holiday for Thanksgiving, i would say the days before are beter then the days of and right after. Meaning Monday - Wedsnesday will be better then Thursday - Sunday.
