Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Hope you are enjoying a Happy day :)

My AP expires on December 4th. Does this mean, I would still be eligible for the renewal discount if I renew ON December 4th (online) or would I need to have paid up by December 3rd?

I ask the above in general but also because I have heard that Target MIGHT (this is in NO way official) offer 10% off Target Store GC's on Sunday, 12-4 only. I Googled and found info that was dated end of October, which is the same date that last was posted info on this on our Budget Board. Anyone have current info? Of course, the other consideration is would I be able to (I did one year thanks to a Target manager) use the Target GC to purchase Disney GC's? Saving 10% would be much better than the Red Card 5%. I did not see any info about this in today's Target ad (for Black Friday), btw.

Thanks so much and God Bless You!

You can renew it on the day it expires which is dec 4.

The problem you will have is that the target gift card will not be valid to use until the next day.

Thanks, Starry_solo so much. Oh wow, thank you for that heads up. I never gave thought to needing to wait a day for activation! I would actually be downgrading my AP so the renewal discount would be $10 instead of $40. Since, I'd potentially save more than $10 with the 10%..might just be worth it anyway. To be honest, I was not even intending to renew until I heard about the possible savings and still may not (expense) just was wanting clarifcation :) Thanks, again.

You're welcome. I remember it being that way the past few years. I suspect it's that way so they get you into the store twice and people buy other things while they're at the store.

If you can make monthly payments, you might consider just doing the renewal and then pay it off with the 10% discounted gift cards. Remember, though, you will need to do separate transactions of $300 (and probably use a different form of payment at Target).

Plus, if you intend to do everything with Disney online, you'll need to combine the Disney GCs (the max increment in store is $50) onto one GC.

Also, if you have a parking pass with your current AP and will be downgrading to one that doesn't come with a parking pass, you might want to consider renewing because you *might* then be able to get the parking pass with the new AP (at a fee). DLR doesn't let brand new lower tier AP holders purchase parking passes anymore.

That could be! I after reading about needing to come back the next day, I remember doing that a few years ago.

That is a good idea once I know Target is doing the promo and that I would be able to use the Target GC's to purchase the Disney GC's.

Last year, thanks to this board, I did sign up for the site where you are able to combine Disney GC's, that has been so handy! I was hoping this year CP would finally be expanded to a week night. It's not and I don't want to miss church to go on Sunday the 4th. That was why online or possibly over the phone renewal would work best for me.

I will keep an eye out on this and other threads about Target :)

Don't forget about the new offer that gives you 13 months on your AP for the price of 12 months. For new APs, the offer expires in February 2017. For renewals, the offer expires in November 2017.

As for using Target GCs to pay for Disney GCs, our fairly recent experience at a Target store did not allow us to do that. We had to buy an equal or greater amount of merchandise (i.e. for a $100 Disney GC, we had to buy $100 or more worth of other merchandise) to use our Target GCs to buy a Disney GC. That way, the register would think the Target GC was paying for the merchandise, not the Disney GC. The manager told us that the new register system does not accept Target GCs as payment for other GCs. You might want to call your local Target to ask a manager about this.

Thanks, luckyrabbit for that reminder. I now have the Deluxe AP and would be downgrading all the way probably to SoCal Select since CP, ( unless we hear next year otherwise) will always only be one weekend (i otherwiswe don't go to DL on weekends). That was my only reason for paying a lot more money so I would have a pass with both of those days open. I believe Sunday was open on the Select so if ever I did scurry out to DL after church I could do that. Anyway, I think the extra month does not include the SoCal Select. I'll have to check if it does the SoCal AP.

I appreciate also the Target heads up! Should they indeed offer the 10% off I will definitely clarfy firs in person with a manager and also ask whetehr they will be working the next day (when the Target GC would be activated) as well.

There are no unblocked Sundays with the So Cal Select AP. You'd have to gt the next level up, So Cal for some unblocked Sundays. There is no guarantee that the CP Sunday will be unblocked next year. If you forgo the $10 discount and renew mid-December you will be in your renewal window next year, if they still allow admission when you renew in person on a blockout date, that may be an option to get in for 1 CP day. The other option would be to get the So Cal Select AP, and just buy a 1 day, 1 park ticket on the day you want to go to the CP.

Thanks, SMD. For some reason I thought this Sunday, 12-4 was unblocked with the So Cal Select. I am still hopeful that one year CP will expand to include at least one weeknight, and that would make it much easier for me to attend. That is a good point that I could always buy the one day ticket if need be ever and still save money in the long run between the the pass I have now (Deluxe) and Select.

EEK! I sure hope not....

It's always worth calling your local Target first to check whether they have changed their policy on buying gift cards with gift cards. I know that this no longer works online. Maybe different stores have different policies? Again, it can't hurt to check first.
