First off Im new to the forums adn I did a search but didnt find answers to my question! (sorry if I didnt search good enough)

Im planning on getting AP's for the family. My questions is: If I order my AP's online, will I get my passes through the mail or will I have to pick them up at DL?

Welcome to the boards!!!

Unfortunately I can't answer your question - but did want to throw out a tid bit for you to ponder. Not sure if you are planning on staying onsite or offsite - but if you are staying offsite I would recommend buying park hopper tickets and upgrading - this way you get to use early entry. (or avoid blackout dates depending on when you travel and what kind of ap's you are getting)

I live somewhat local so I wont be staying at any of the resorts. But thanks for the info, Ill keep that in mind when I plan a mini vacation which I need soon! ;)

I've never bought mine online, but either way you're gonna have to go in and get your picture taken. If you buy them onsite they print out a ticket that gets you into the parks, then you have to go to the annual pass center to get your photo taken and your card printed.

Thanks for the info! Thats exactly what I needed to know. I'll make sure to get there early so that I have time to get my AP's and have lots of time at DL. Thanks again!

We've bought ours on line and get regular tickets in the mail, once you go in you have to go and get your passes with pictures. I do think you can wait until the day you leave to do this and then they are good for a year from that day. Gets you a couple extra days.

I would verify that, you'd hate to be stuck outside at guest services trying to get it sorted out, plus you need the pass to get the discounts on food and stuff.

if you get the passes ahead of time and one has parking, show it the day you go and you get to have the free parking..

Also it is helpful to get them in the mail. You know you have them and it is one less line to wait in.

If you are buying the so cal select passes. Where there are blackout days.. You can activate the pass on a black out day. I have done this many times..

I read elsewhere that if you upgrade your park hopper ticket to an AP it is effective from the first day you used your park hopper.
For example: I'm going 9/23-9/29, I plan to use EE of my park hopper on 9/23, on 9/24 I will upgrade to an AP so I can use it for discounts.
Even if I upgrade on 9/29 the AP would still expire the following year on 9/23..right?

If you purchase your passes the day you go you can taking your parking ticket with you and they will deduct that from your total. Also I read somewhere and actually did this, if you are purchasing deluxe passes and adding parking to one it is actually better to pay, I think it is $60, more and get one premium pass. You get 15% off at most food places and you get 10% off on merchandise, which you don't get with deluxe passes and with deluxe you only get 10% off on food. It will pay for it's self if you go often.

Also we just get ours at the park. When we got our renewals we were sent to DCA to pick up our passes and they were ready when we walked in there. I think that is only because we already had our picture on file. You might have to go to DL the first time.

Have fun and enjoy.

You can also buy your AP at a Disneystore, we did this. You'll get a voucher which gets you into the park. You need to go to the bank on Main Street and get your photo taken where they give you the actual AP while you wait.

HTH

Out of curiosity, why wouldn't you upgrade after the EE hours on the 23rd, then you would have the food discount for that day as well.

When I bought mine I told the CM at the parking garage I was going in to purchase a AP, he just gave me the AP reciept at the gate and did not charge me.

master mason- I didn't know I could upgrade my park hopper to an AP the same day I use EE. That's great! Woo! Hoo! More discounts!
But no matter which day I upgrade to the AP isn't the effective date 9/23?

I'm planning a 5 day girlfriends/Mommies trip for my 40th 9/19/2008 and I want to be able to use my AP while there.

Oh I didn't even think about telling them at the parking booth that I was purchasing an annual pass. That is a good idea.

If you're upgrading from a hopper, your AP will be effective from the first day of your hopper. So yes, your AP will be good 9/23/07- 9/23/08.
