CIAO all of you !!

This is my first pre-trippie ever !!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel so excited !!!!!
Going back to Disneyland California is a dream I have been having in years !!! AND my ineffable DGH even “splurged” … adding to our staying in California a WONDERFUL trip to Hawaii !!!

Ok, you may ask, WHO is that DGH ?
Here we go !!

So … let’s go back , nearly one year ago …

IT’S SEPTEMBER 2007
( BTW I hope you can “understand” my English ; we both are Italians – living in Italy , so this isn’t my first language !!!)

WHERE will our trip be ?
Not so easy answer !!

DGH and myself are BIG Disney fans !!!
We visit Disneyland resort Paris asap !!!!!!!! After all …Paris is just two hours flight from home !! (It's COLD in Paris at Winter time ; have you ever seen "a fur COAT" IN Disney parks ?)

And in past years we were as lucky as to visit WDW in Florida many times : we have a wonderful friend living close to WDW … and we LOVE to meet her and her friends (well, also Mickey of course !! ) whenever we can !!!

Though 2008 would have been “different” for me and Marco …
Due to health troubles , in September 2007 I had to start a hard “heavy treatment”, going in hospital once a month … for ONE year or so …
DGH thought of “something” that could help me (us !!) to go through this looong 2008 !!!!!
It had to be something “NEW” …an UNBELIEVABLE trip !!!! ( Our US friends always say that “we are totally crazy “ !!! ).

DGH thought about places we had not seen in many years ; possibly we would have had to “discover” where to go , what to do … All the researches , hopefully , would have helped me to go through the first months of my treatment ( which - we were told – would have been quite hard , with side-effects and …)

At first we planned to visit Disneyland and then take a one-week-cruise to Hawaii … but …
Tinkerbell ( I guess ! ) had other plans on us !!

My family and I are going to Hawaii in August (which I'm very excited about!) but a trip to a Disney Park would be the cherry on top!

WOW what a trip your DGH has planned, I can't wait to read more. I can tell you that while you may need your big coat at DLP you will not need it in California or Hawaii.

I can tell you that while you may need your big coat at DLP you will not need it in California or Hawaii.

Oh, REALLY ?? What about Cruella DeVille ??? I recall we met her at Disneyland California !!!

We hit the 99 days point on Friday and we are having a Double Digit Party a la Verity! I am unbelieveably excited. I will be launching my own pre-trip report in the DIS Cruise forum trip reports section to help build up the excitement (as if it needs much building up) during the next 3 months!
How many days until you travel to Disneyland!

October 2007

We can get free frequent flyers Alitalia tickets; this means we can fly all the way from Italy to US without paying one $ !!!!!!!!!! GREAT DEAL !!! though we have to reserve the plane seats almost ONE year in advance ; so …
by end of September 2007 we had already reserved our flight tickets to US and “planned” a draft itinerary for August 2008:

* Flight Milano – Chicago (our Alitalia FREE tickets couldn’t get us farther than this !!)
* Flight Chicago –Los Angeles (later we will purchase the “inside US” tickets , waiting for good offers through Internet …)
* Stay for five days in Anaheim, visiting DISNEYLAND and California Adventure
* AND AFTERWARDS ???

Both Marco (aka DGH ) and I have so many wonderful memories about our previous trips to California :

In 2001 we were able to visit the new California Adventure Park : some attractions were not well working at that time and the park had to fix a few “problems” , but the landscape was already IMHO SO BEAUTIFUL !!! DGH loved their Grizzly Peak , that sort of “mountain” shaped like the head of a bear … IMPRESSIVE !!!

Isn't it the perfect “background” for the newly-built lavish hotel : Grand Californian !?!!
Which takes us to another question : WHERE to stay ??? while in Anaheim ?

We love so much Wilderness Lodge of WDW !!! and have very fond memories there !!!! It is so peaceful and charming !!!

In some way the Grand Californian makes us remember of our beloved Wilderness Lodge , but we could not make up our minds : should we pay lots of $$$ and “stay in the middle of the magic “ ??
A friend had told us that you can find nearly as much “magic” at hotels off-property ( if you are smart enough !?).
Perhaps we’d need to know more about all the “Good Neighbor” hotels …
