What rides are a big no with dizziness, vertigo and neck issues? Regarding new rides especially. How is Mickey and Minnie's runaway railway?

I'm very sensitive and have ridden Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railroad over 10 times.
Never a problem whatsoever. Remy at first gave me a little problems until I took off the 3D glasses occasionally. Now I've ridden it easily 10 times also and no problem at all,
I also suffer from dizziness (loopy I call it), vertigo about once a year and definite neck issues.

Thank you. Do you happen to have BPPV?

No one seems to know what my problem is caused by but my adult daughter definitely was diagnosed with it. Spent numerous months several times a week going to a special balance clinic. Definitely helped and she never had to go to the ER as she had to go. Still feels ‘loopy’ sometimes but nowhere near what she went through. She does get sick in cars periodically. I do not unless reading in car.

I’ve had bouts of vertigo that needed the ER couple of times over the years but never actually diagnosed. I’m a migraine sufferer so it was compounded.

I never go anywhere without Bonine or Dramamine in my purse.

She is VERY careful at Disney World. Desperately wants to ride Guardians but afraid. I wouldn’t think of riding it. Even with the drugs.

PS: Flight of Passage is no problem for either of us. Go figure.

I can't ride GotG (one and done on our last trip, thought I was going to black out!) Expedition Everest, Space Mountain, or Mission Space, but I was okay on Remy and MMRR. FoP is one of my favorite rides - it makes you feel like you are moving, but you really aren't all that much. Not sure what my condition is that causes me to feel off, but I can handle the 3D sims just fine; it's the "bigger" G-force rides that do me in.

This is a very individual thing. I suffer from vertigo & found Mission to Mars (is that still there?) unbearable. Had to sit on the puke benches for about 15 minutes. If the ride has a choice to sit in a non-motion seat, I just skip the whole thing because I don't want to see it that way & there's no way I would exit that ride upright. When I was a kid, I couldn't even LOOK at a carousel in motion, so I try to avoid carousels, the tea cups, anything that turns or spins. But, I LOVE some of the rides that shake you up or drop you, etc. These are rides that some people w/ vertigo cannot ride.

Although you asked mostly about new rides, be sure that if you go on Kilimanjaro Safari, you don't get seated near the rear of the jeep. There's a huge difference in how bumpy, jerky, etc. the front and rear seats are.

I second the opinion on Mission: Space orange. I've only ever been on that--there was no green when I did it--and I actually couldn't do anything for hours afterward. Not just a few minutes. I had to go back to the resort and hang out on the balcony to recover. Took hours.

I'd definitely avoid the Teacups--that's all about spinning. I've never done it for that reason.

I'm find on MMRR, but YMMV. I'm also fine with RotR. But I was slightly off with Remy, and, btw, I thought it was a complete waste of time. But you might not agree!

I'm also fine on FoP, but DH cannot do it and he's not alone, so be warned. The only plus of that is that if you feel yourself reacting in a not-positive way, you can just close your eyes. The motion of the ride vehicle isn't enough to cause motion sickness when not paired with the visuals. At least I'm pretty sure this is true.

After reading about GotG, I won't even attempt it. I like to spend my park days in the parks, not back at the resort recovering!

I'm thinking about what other rides might affect you. I'll post back when/if I come up with others.

I'm not prone to motion sickness or dizziness and even I felt it when I rode GOTG. I had a mild headache afterward.

Funny you should mention carousels. I hated them as a kid and also couldn't even look at them. As an adult, I actually look away when I pass Magic Kingdom's and never will go on Tea Cup Ride (or Tilt a Whirls at carnivals). And like you, I LOVE rides that drop. Love the feeling in my stomach and also love Test Track. Never, ever bothers my vertigo. When on Big Thunder in MK, the drops are great but going around those curves bother me. Even with ginger, Altoids, gum and Benadryl. It's all so odd.

I envy those at Disney that can ride anything & everything.

I have about the same tolerance as you. The Tilt a Whirl was rarely a problem, which I think had to do with the wide arcs, same with the Scrambler -- but to this day when I see something spinning ... 🤢 Even in a film, if they start spinning the camera I have to close my eyes.

Can the entire ride be ridden without 3D glasses? Does the ride spin?

Really struggling to decide about MMRR and Remy! Is there a lot of spinning? Do you wear 3D glasses with both? can you close your eyes if the ride bothers you or look away?

I wouldn’t ride Remy without glasses the entire time because you’d honestly miss some of the fun spots. (I don’t want to spoil for you). Since I typed above reply, I’ve gone on it at least 5 more times with leaving glasses totally on and loving the ride.
The cars don’t actually spin just to spin….they are turning to get awsy from being chased by the chefs. Very fun.

My suggestion to you is do what I did in the very beginning. Slip the glasses off or move up to your forehead when you don’t care for the sensation then slip them back on / down again. Also when Remy is running and you’re following him, keep your eyes focused on Remy, not all the silly commotion around him. That helped tremendously. Each time you go on the ride, I bet you will enjoy more and more like me. It’s really adorable. I LOVE it now. Don’t miss it.

And NO, I do not intend to go on Guardians of the Galaxy. My (adult) daughter absolutely adores it but also states she constantly sees people very ill very often. Nope. Not for me.

Hope you give Remy a try. My DH laughs out loud every time we ride. And he’s usually not a laugher-out-loud person.

Thank you! Does it toss you around? I also have a neck issue. How do you personally compare it to MMRR?
