So, I was looking at ideas to surprise family for our 3-generation Christmas trip at my family's bucket list resort (Fort Wilderness cabin).

I saw the pretty in-room floral packages through Disney and have been considering one, but it's well over $100 plus delivery for a couple beanie baby size plush and a 6 inch lighted tree. I was thinking I'd be better off to hit a discount store before the trip, and carry along our own small pre-lit tree. I was thinking when the family left out for dinner, I could say I was going back to get something in the room and set it up then. Anyone had any luck with doing something similar?

They had a lot of cute add-ons that I'd love to do if I had money to waste. Like holiday candy, Disney blankets, and toys.

So, I went on eBay, and I found a very pretty Walt Disney World woven throw in a winter holiday print, for only $20 including shipping, still new in the package. I have Disney wrapping at home from the dollar tree, so could wrap it and smuggle it along with the tree as a surprise gift to my family. I was thinking we could use it on the Fort wilderness wagon ride.

Can anyone else suggest some things to add that will come in well under $100? Maybe at 40 or 50 tops for everything including the mini tree. I was envisioning a little Disney tote filled with Christmas candy for the kids to enjoy, or something else similar. Thought this would be the best place to post, because I would love ideas of re-creating the beautiful floral gifts for a lot less cost!!

I did this on a small scale on our trip last week. Before we left, I bought a few Tsum Tsums for each kid. Right as we were leaving one morning, I said I forgot something and sent them on ahead. Then I placed the Tsum Tsums out around the room. When we got back, the kids were so excited! My 10 year old figured out that i put them there, but the 4 year old was pretty convinced Mickey left them for her. :D

Sounds like a great plan! You can also google DIY In-Room Celebrations and you will get lots of ideas that way as well. I am planning to do something for my husband "From Goofy" while we are there at some point

Good Luck and make sure to share pictures!!

Thanks for the suggestions! My two youngest love the tsum tsums, but I am a bit freaked out by them lol so haven't caved in yet. I did Google and found Mickey footprint templates and I pinned a cool sign/tag that used the Disney font to say "from Mickey."

I scored the nice throw blanket for $20 and found a 14" fiber optic tree which had good reviews, for $12 so went ahead and got it. I am hoping dollar tree or five below will have a Disney theme winter tote available after Halloween. I am hoping to DIY the in-room treat bag with Disney jelly belly and red/green juicy drop candy. I think I could come out right at $40 with all that. If you can recommend decor for the tiny tree or a place to get festive confetti super cheap please let me know!!

I did this when we went down before Christmas years ago and drove. I'm guessing you're driving as well?
I found some adorable coffee mugs at the Disney store on sale & packed two of them (we still use them!). They have Mickey and a snowman on them. We used them the whole trip (we were in the Boardwalk Villas).
Also found a few Disney ornaments at the Disney store - they were much cheaper than the ones at the parks.
Got a little battery powered string lights for the tiny tree.
Check out Dollar Tree! You never know what you'll find.
The throw blanket sounds cute!
Good luck! I agree the cost of the in-room celebrations are high. They're really cute, but I can't justify the cost.

what you could do to keep from getting questions about what is in the box while traveling, is to FedEx Ground it to the resort and leave it up at the front till you are ready to set everything up. you could possibly pack everything thing into a small or medium box from Lowe's, and should not cost more than $20 for shipping within continental US. FedEx ground only takes about 2-4 days depending on how far from Orlando you live.

We spent Christmas at Aulani. I used my Walgreen rewards and purchased a disney tree and tons of disney decorations and stockings and mailed them to the resort. Once the kids left the room I decorated the room. I filled their stockings with disney gift cards and different disney candy, disney PJ's and boxers on Xmas morning.

Walgreens is a good idea! Drugstores tend to have cute little Disney stuff at Christmas.

I am driving so it helps with shipping costs I will put the tree and stuff in a space we will use for souvenirs later.
