Homemade Cookie Butter

You’ll need:

  • 8 ounces of peanut butter or snickerdoodle cookies sealed in a sturdy zip-top bag
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Steps:

1. Crush the cookies into coarse granules (it’s okay if there are some larger pieces), then transfer to a food processor (or blender) and pulse until you have a fine powder. Crushing helps them blend easier.

2. Slowly drizzle in the vegetable oil, then add the water and blend until a paste forms.

3. Add the powdered sugar gradually scraping down the sides of every so often to make sure it all mixes and is spreadable.

4. Transfer to a jar with a tight-fitting lid and into the fridge for 30 minutes before serving.

Also, taking a canvas and getting raised letters and gluing them onto the canvas into a saying, song lyrics, names, etc. and then painting the whole thing one color, makes a really pretty art work piece. I did one with the chorus to our first dance song, and it's really pretty and I got to use up extra paint :) The materials are easy to find at any craft store.

If you sew, pillowcases are a quick and easy project. I've made them with kids' favorite characters or sports or whatever.

The new craft I want to try this year, I saw on Pinterest. You Mod Podge maps onto tiles to make coasters.

I saw a beautiful fringed throw on Pinterest that I'm thinking of making. It uses 1.75 yds. of fabric, so the blogger said it costs about $10.50 to make.

In addition, I signed up for a free Home Depot DIY class to make a fireplace mantel decoration that looks like a stocking. I've done these classes before, they are lots of fun! H and I are both taking this class, and gifting them to our grandparents, along with a bottle of wine or something like that.
