After hearing all the rave reviews from Verandah Man about Dixie Crossroads in Titusville, we decided to stop there for supper on our way to Cape Canaveral. It was DELICIOUS and the service was EXCELLENT! We tried the rock shrimp & it was so yummy. I don't think I've ever had it that way before. We also enjoyed walking through their gardens. It was an awesome way to start our cruise vacation. I'm sure we will stop there again on our next cruise. Thanks for the recommendation!

I think with all the business his reccomendation will generate from these boards, Andy and his family should get free dinners next time they stop in!

:D

bahama97,

You are VERY WELCOME, I'm glad you enjoyed your "Rock Shrimp"!!!

lisak1,

I like the way you think, I couldn't agree more!!! LOL!!!

Hazel just asked me what I wanted for Father's Day, I told her my "Rock Shrimp" dinner at Dixie Crossroads. I told her we have to celebrate Father's Day in August this year, after we get off our cruise!!!

My it does sound YUMMY!!! It is suppertime now am sitting here with my mouth watering!!!

Dixie Crossroads sounds just wonderful. As of now, DH and I had planned on going to GRILLS to have an early supper and watch the Magic go by! Is the seafood at Grills anywhere near as good as the seafood at Dixie Crossroads seems to be? Surely somebody knows!

but what is "rock" shrimp and how does it differ from good, old, plain shrimp? I gather it is terrific from all the responses on this board, but just wondering what is different about it? :p

Rock Shrimp are like mini lobster tails, they taste soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood!!!
I discovered them when we made a trip to Florida in 1983, it was after Dixie Crossroads had first opened. We have been making Dixie Crossroads a stop at least once everytime we are in Florida. I order mine broiled.

Thanks Verandah Man!!!

I just bookmarked the site to show my DH. I am sure we will be stopping there for dinner the night before the cruise. It sounds sooooo good!

Thanks again.

Happy Cruising!

Hi Lisa.

Due to Andy's recommendations, he may not even be able to GET a table - much less rock shrimp - without reservations...

That's one reason we go for an early lunch, last time we arrived at 10:55am (they open at 11am) and were 5th in line to get a table. After our lunch, we headed up 95 towards NJ.

Don't mean to hijack the thread and since we haven't eaten at Dixie Crossroads I can't compare food, but watching the Magic sail past Grills has always been a highlight for us! We've done it twice and it is such a wonderful sight! Adds to the excitement of our cruise the next day and it is fun to cruise past Grills on Sunday knowing we were there the night before. Oh and the food at Grills is very good too!

We know return you to the rock shrimp discussion :)

Hey Andy.

After our lunch, we headed up 95 towards NJ.

I didn't think you'd change your discourse from an Informational" to a "Tragedy"...

you're probably right...
But, maybe the answer is to call for the dedication of the "Offical Andy Booth" at the Dixie Crossroads, make it an occasion, all the Rock shrimp converts from the Dis Boards can attend the commeration ceremony....

Then, when Andy does visit his favorite restaurant, he'll always be assured of a table... Think of "Cheers" when Norm walks in... the corner bar stool... the rousing cries of "Andy" when he walks in the door.

I think the rousing cries should be changed from "Andy" to "Verandah Man" as I walk in the door!!!

Dixie Crossroads is about a 20-30 minute drive from Port Canaveral.

If you are going southbound on I-95, there is a sign for it on one of those blue informational signs. The exit was 77 I think?? Florida has changed the exit numbers so I think that is the old number. A lot of the signs will say Exit 230/Old 88. LOL Once you get off the interstate, it's down a little bit on the right. It's definitely worth the stop.

The exit is # 80 off of I-95, SR #406 Garden Street, see map below.
