Divorce brewing...BCV Add on waitlist and use year

We own at SSR. But have fallen in love with Beach Club and realize we'd like an add-on there. My husband found a resale for 100 pts (DEC UY) at Timeshare STore. He was sure we should get it. I called and we could have. BUT I waffled a bit, was nervous, and finally convinced my husband to wait a bit, and we'd use Disney for the add-on.

We are currently on the BCV add on waitlist (for DEC UY). But from the sounds of things this waitlist thing is gonna kill us. My husband wants points NOW to start making plans (he is the ultimate planner!!). I even said last night that we should have bought that contract and he about went thru the roof!! Now - divorce isn't a reality, but the look he gave me when I said that was painful. How can I increase my chances of getting the points. We said we would take anything up to 125 points.

Should I care about use year? How important is having the same use year? HELP!!

I don't consider use year to be a deal breaker. I look at it as just the anniversary of when points are alocated. If you buy an add-on from Disney you will be required to wait for your same use year unless you buy at least 150 points. If you go the resale route, that wont be true. Good luck!

If you are buying points at a resort that you don't already own at, use year is not very important. The points can't be combined until the 7-month window either way.

If you are adding on at your home resort, reservations are more complicated with different use years. We have a March and December contract, both at BWV. I spend much more time on the phone with Member Services than I otherwise would with a single use year.

To me, it would be more convenient to have one use year, only one banking deadline to worry about.

We have three contracts but everything in the same UY. I think it makes managing the points much simpler. Keep watching those resale boards as you wait for the Disney points. Take which ever comes first. Good Luck!

There are advantages and disadvantages for specific use years. If you have different use years, you can chose which contract to use for a specific trip giving more protection if you have to cancel. Banking quotas and simplicity are the main advantages for having them all in one mast contract. And while you may have people tell you that it also matters for combining straggling points for that last night, I will tell you it does not matter at all.

Does Disney only re-sell the points in the same amout that they came in? What I am trying to say is that if someone sells back 150 BCV points to DVC with a December use year and I am on the waitlist for 60 BCV Dec. UY points can I take 60 of those 150, or do they only sell all 150? Am I making sense?

No, they can divi up the points ever how they want as long as they keep the same home resort and use year. So you could get 60 if they bought back a single 150 pt contract and you were next on the list.

So I guess that's why adding on smaller amounts of points at sold out resorts goes faster if done through Disney?
