Just curious if there are any houses divided in this election? DH and I were divided in 2000 and 2004. We even had two seperate signs in our yard in 2004. Forunately we agree this coming election.

I just passed a house with both signs in their yard and it reminded me of us.

How are you handling it? Do you discuss? do you argue? or do you just not talk about it?:)

My husband and I have similar values but that doesn't always translate into voting for the same candidates.
This year might end up just like that. Neither one of us like either candidate and we are both going to vote for the lesser evil. I've only recently made up my mind which guy that will be and I've heard dh verbalize earlier in the campaign that he was gonna vote for his opponent. I'm not sure though, recently dh said some favorable stuff about the guy I'm planning to vote for so he may have changed his mind.

we have always been divided. I am for Obama and he is for McCain.
I think I am starting to wear him down though. He voted for Bush twice and I keep saying how did that work out....

I live in a divided household.

DH is voting Obama and I'm voting McCain.

There's no problem because neither of us are fanatics over this election, and we don't try to convince each other about who's wrong or right. We have our opinions, talk about it for a few minutes, and then watch the World Series. Now THERE'S where the divide causes problems!!!

I think you should handle this by being proud of yourselves! Imagine...Democrats loving and respecting Republicans and Republicans loving and respecting Democrats. Not much of that going on these days!

DH and I are completely opposite. He votes for the Republican no matter what. I vote for the Democrat no matter what.

Well, he actually only votes about 1/2 the time.

We get along well in spite of our political differences...and politics is almost always off-limits at our house.

Well, except for where Sarah Palin is concerned. He makes fun of her as much as I do!

This was us that last 2 elections. In the primaries I was for Hillary and he was Obama. The thought of Hillary made him sick.... We got through it and now for the first time we agree. We have fun with it. We don't take anything too serious. We know what hot buttons NOT to push.

DH and I are divided. We are that family with two yard digns LOL, but you know what? We still love each other, we don't call each other names, we both think the other is intelligent, and we are best friends. It IS possible people!!!

DH and I agree, and have always voted the same. He's not really into politics though.

This is the first time we've been politically divided ... but we acknowledged that we respect the other's right to vote for whoever we want, and we both agree that what matters is that whoever *is* elected president works as hard as they can to protect this country and help it prosper again.

It's not all rose petals and blue skies, though--my parents are very, very divided. They have arguments about which candidate is more likely to be the Antichrist/directly lead to the downfall of the nation. I'm used to my parents being so vile to one another (this year has featured the most communication between them since the election four years ago!), but a few months back my husband refused to go visit my family until after the election because the political clash makes him so uncomfortable. I don't blame him. :headache:

I have been married 19 years, and this is the first time that we are voting the same!:goodvibes

We're a divided house. I'm for McCain and DW is for (at least that's what she tells me but she didn't like the Rev Wright controversy) Obama. So is her mother and her niece.

While on most issues DH and I stack up on the same side, we both have issues where we are polar opposites.

One year on a school millage election I forgot to tell him to vote until after the polls closed. :) Obviously he was all talk, or he would have remembered himself! We won by a small handful of votes! (I think the number was four?)

We are divided but not for this election. DW is a naturalized citizen and really takes her civic duties seriously. She thought Bill Clinton was the shiznit, but Obama not even a little (I think she sees herself in Sarah Palin more than she wants to admit but.....well......y'all don't tell her I said that). ;)

We are not big on signage/bumper stickers (never have been)......most of our neighbors don't have political signs up.....in fact noone on my street has any kind of signage up......

Except for roofing company signs (post Ike rebuild). They are everywhere.....

I think this Portrait Roofing company is going to win the election.

:)

YES! DH's family are fanatical Republicans and I am an independent (my dad was a republican and my mom was a democrat). They can really get on your nerves and have no desire to see an issue any way but the one way:headache: so I've learned through the years to never discuss politics around them. our DS and DD lean away from their views just because of their closemindedness though:laughing: DH and I together get along just fine: we can joke and he sees both sides (sometimes). This election has been a very interesting and energetic one for us though; it's provided alot of discussion time with DS and DD who gets to vote for the first time! no matter what, REMEMBER TO VOTE:cool1:

My dh and I have never voted for the same President. And although I think he hasn't fully decided yet who to vote for in this one, I have a feeling we will once again not be voting for the same person.

It usually isn't much of an issue because dh is very laid back and just lets me rant and he doesn't say much. Now if he had my personality and we were opposite parties, I'm not so sure we'd survive election years.

Definately divided here--DH voted for McCain and while I'm going to wait and vote on Nov 4, I am most likely going to vote for Obama.

DH feels that McCain is the most obvious choice, that he'll do a better job than Obama. I feel that while McCain MIGHT do a better job, he's not in the best of health and that if he happens to pass away in office, I do NOT want Sarah Palin taking charge of the free world. I don't hate her rabidly, the way a lot of people seem to do. I just do not like her..something about her just puts me off. I'm not sure if it is her look or the fact that she's a "hockey mom" (which to me is the same thing as a "soccer mom" and you rarely hear THOSE words w/a positive connotation) or what. But something about her just rubs me the wrong way. And I think we'd all be in BIG trouble if she were to end up as president.

JMO, YMMV, yadda yadda yadda.

yes it is

My husband was for Obama until he read about how Obama feels about guns then became for McCain.

I was always for McCain.

DH is registered Democrat and I'm registered as Republican. However, we both agree to always vote for whom we think will do the best for our country which sometimes results in a split ticket when voting for President, Senator, Representative, etc.

For Presidential election this year, we both happen to agree on the same candidate and since we could vote early here in Iowa at the satellite stations, we both voted last Wednesday evening. :cool1:

We generally don't put signs up in the yard--I think the last time was when a friend was running for city council. However, I have noticed that on our street there are many McCain and Obama signs in the same yard.popcorn::
