I was wondering if anyone has done the DiveQuest Tour at Epcot. I am a novice diver and was hoping some one could tell me if it's worth it. ;) Thanks

Hi Erin!

I remember asking the same question as you when I first posted on the DIS - about 8 years ago.
I am not a diver, but DH is and has done DiveQuest. He REALLY liked it and thought that it was VERY worthwhile! ::yes::
I don't know if I have EVER read an review of this from anyone who was not very pleased with the "tour."
I'm sure that you would have a wonderful time! :)

My husband is a very experienced scuba diver and he likes to do Dive Quest each trip. He has particpated three separate times now and will take his 4th dive in the Living Seas this summer. There is such a high concentration of marine life to swim with...plus a backstage view of the Living Seas, T-shirt, certificate and the option to purchase a DVD of your dive. Pretty good program.

My son did it and loved it. It was awesome for me to get to see him dive and get a few photos :)

Great news. Thanks so much. Can't wait to tell DBF that he get to see me dive!

I've done AquaSeas, which is the version of this tour for non-scuba divers. Basically, you're in full scuba gear, but without any weights, so you stay on the surface, like snorkeling but with scuba breathing apparatus instead of a snorkel.

It was VERY cool and VERY worthwhile. We'd like to get our scuba cert someday, and when we do, we'll be back for AquaSeas!

LErin26 - make sure your boyfriend is with you when you check in for the dive. That takes place outside The Living Seas at Guest Relations at the front of the park (and outside the gates). One Cast Member will take you and your dive buddies off to check your certs. Another Cast Member will ask any family members to go with him/her. Then they will be given instructions for when to be inside The Living Seas to see the dive and where to meet up with you after the dive.

I only got to witness my father and stepmother diving and it was a blast. I think I might have had more fun that they did. Family members should be at a certain point about a half hour after your dive time. Then they get to see you go into the water. You do a controlled dive with a guide for about 20 minutes. During this time, if your family member is where he/she/they are supposed to be, you will be able to go up to the "glass" and greet them. All while being videotaped for later. It's a great way for the family to also participate.

After the dive, I would recommend that you set up a meeting place for outside of The Living Seas. We waited for what seemed like forever near the gift shop which is where we were told to be. It would have been better to meet somewhere else. We were kind of trapped. I would have preferred the seating area at the Fountain View Cafe. At least there was something besides fish we could see (two hours inside The Living Seas without actually swimming was too much).

But at any rate - you'll love the dive. My dad and stepmother are master divers and they rate that dive as their favorite. And keep your receipt. Since the admission all goes towards research, you can deduct it on your taxes.
