So after watching the DIS Unplugged's review of Flying Fish and reading some great reviews on the boards, I've decided to ditch Le Cellier. Which one do you prefer?

There are about 15 signature restaurants in WDW; I would go to about 12 of them before Le Cellier. I'm just not a fan of LC and it's dark, loud, cramped with tables stacked upon each other atmosphere. That and I personally think the steaks are just average. Sure, the bread is awesome, but IMO, that's it. I will admit, I have not been to Flying Fish since the reopening, but if it's just 1/2 of what it was in the past it would be 2x what LC is. Just my opinion. (but then that is what your asking for) :)

Flying Fish is much more relaxing than Le Cellier. I was there last October (after the remodel). While there are some things I miss from the previous menu, I didn't have any problem finding something new to try. I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner. I had the ahi tuna for an appetizer and the scallops for my entree. I didn't have dessert but did have the Peanut Butter Freeze which is really like a spiked PB milkshake...so I guess I did have dessert!

The only thing I really like at Le Cellier is the pretzel bread and cheese soup.

I would choose FF over Le Cellier. We dined there in December and it was a wonderful meal. I must admit I am biased, I just do not like any aspect of LC. I think it is crowded, the food is overrated for the price, the service is hurried, and it is dark and not in a romantic way. Just dark. I agree with @goofy4prez, I woudl go to just about any other signature restaurant before LC, as well as many others on WDW property that are not signature.

Steak versus Seafood.

Personally, we prefer Yachtsman to Le Cellier.....but seafood over steak.....Flying Fish.

Maybe you should consider blueZoo or Shula's if not using the Dining Plan.

We really enjoyed Flying Fish. We were there just before the recent renovations. The food was outstanding and the service was great. We particularly liked the fact that the restaurant was not cramped and relatively quiet. We used to like Le Cellier. To be honest, we liked it best when it was cafeteria style and the prime rib was so large it was easily shared. Back then, and even when it changed to table service, the restaurant had space between the tables and the noise level was much lower. I know that Disney is trying to get the most profit out of the restaurant, but I don't know anyone who enjoys rubbing elbows with someone at the next table just because they are so close together. Add that to the high cost versus value, it's just a restaurant that we avoid.

FF hands down. There was a time when Le Cellier was a reasonably priced restaurant, and only one TS credit on the DDP. Now, the prices are much the same as Flying Fish or Yachtman's but the crowded atmosphere, noise level, and general ambience are much less. We like FF despite the fact that DW does not eat restaurant seafood (although she tolerates the salmon or tilapia I fix at home, she doesn't enjoy seafood enough to justify spending restaurant dining dollars on it). FF has an outstanding filet and some appetizers she enjoys so we can go there and each have something we really want to eat, prepared well and served in a very pleasant environment.

Good choice. Pretty much any of the Signature restaurants will be better than LC. The only reason LC is classified as signature is so they can charge two credits to those on the dining plans. The food and service is no where near the quality you'll get at a signature outside the parks.

I'm curious as to the 3 signatures that are at the bottom of your list. -Amanda

My DH is allergic to fish but loves steak. That's why I wanted to try Le Cellier in the firs place. But yeah the filet at FF looks good. -Amanda

1) Smart move.
2) Le Cellier wasn't that great as a 1-TS eatery, and the quality hasn't improved - just the prices.
3) For 2-TS coupons, I would make the other ressie.

FF, by a lot. I've LC to be like Outback or some other chain place. FF has never been anything but good, and sometimes great, but its not my beloved Bluezoo.

Great decision. Le Cellier is one place I doubt I would ever go back to even if someone else was paying.

I have been to both & recommend Flying Fish. Everything about that place was better than Le Cellier - atmosphere, food, service. Our trip to FF was before the remodel though. Enjoy your meal!

Wow. I must have had exception luck. The 3 times I've been to Le Cellier, it's been incredible - especially for the price. (And, I'm a fairly harsh critic on most Disney restaurants and restaurants generally.) My other friends who are not Disney friends, and all of us fairly food oriented folks all loved it. But, it seems there are many on here with different experiences.

With that, the updated Flying Fish is also a great experience. My only real gripe is that they put it right next to blueZoo (arguably my number 1 or 2 on Property). So, you won't go wrong there.

You had me thinking here and I had to bump LeCellier a bit further down my list. My least favorite are in order:

  1. Morimoto... Went there when they first opened. Horrible service, wrong items brought out and kid you not, hot food dumped on one in our party and not even a sorry or visit from a manager. Love Asian, but one and done here.
  2. LeCellier... Not a fan at all and already mentioned why.
  3. Monsieur Paul... Actually not all that bad, but if not on the dining plan this place is way to expensive. I no longer use DDP and use TiW or DVC discounts and still find this place too much.

Morimoto - We had the same experience (bad service) .... we've since been back, but only to the upstairs sushi bar. Much better service!!!! You can also order from the full menu there.

Agree that the service a Morimoto has been hit or miss. When its good this is a really good meal. When its off, the food just isn't quite enough to overcome the service.

If you aren't on the dining plan, I would consider ditching both and consider bluezoo at the Dolphin. I find LC's food to be very salty and it's very loud and cramped in the restaurant. We, too, went to FF after watching the same review and we did not have a good experience. The service was incredibly slow and the food was average. A complete let-down from the previous menu. bluezoo is consistently excellent.

FF is the one place we consistently go back to every trip, but we haven't been since the reno. We have had steak dishes and a delicious pork tenderloin there, so not ordering fish has never been a problem. The food and service have always been excellent.

We've been to Le Cellier once and had a very good experience - but it was crowded, loud, and pricey. It's not on DH's list of must-return-to's.
