The DisUnplugged was mentioned in the Olszewski website after Pete raved about his artwork - and rightly so, his work is amazing. His next signing event is on March 21st and it'd be awesome if Pete and the gang would be able to interview Bob or his brother Ray about the Main Street Collection.

Thanks to DIS Unplugged Disney Podcast, visits to the Olszewski Studios website has increased significantly over the past several weeks. The announcement of the upcoming Walt Disney World's event featuring Bob Olszewski on 21 and 22 March 2009 was noted along with links to the OS website. Thanks DIS Unplugged!

I'm one that visited his site after it was mentioned on the Podcast. :) I'm excited that we'll be there at the same time Olszewski is and I am trying to decide which piece I might have to get.

We have collected all of the Disneyland set and are very pleased with the artwork. I suggest starting with the castle as it is usually the center piece of the room. And when the attractions start coming out then collect those too. He does great work both on the outside and the inside.

Here are a few photos of his excellent artwork.

What an amazing collection. I can only imagine how much it cost to collect all the pieces.

I was one that went to the site after it was mentioned also. Love it! I hope to pick up my first piece in May.

DH (ScubaD) and I went to a Robert Olszewski signing 3 years ago at DL and he was a genuinely nice man. We enjoyed meeting him and talking to him. I highly recommend attending a signing if you can. :)

Hi,

Do you know if the WDW buildings also fit together like the main street Disneyland ones?

If so, do the wood platforms the buildings are on get covered up or just match up when placed end to end?

I love the Disneyland main street, and would love to collect a WDW version of this on a platform.

Thanks

I have not compared the so far released equivalent pieces (Emporium to Emporium, City Hall to City Hall), but I truly doubt these will match. Most probably, Olszewski Studios will hopefully release a second platform dedicated to WDW, but that is still a long ways away.

That is not how I am personally setting up my pieces now, as I don't have the space for it, but it's good to have the option.

I have the tinker bell sitting on top of the clock memory box and absolutely love it. We also have a few of the little pill boxes. When we return in March of 2010 I hope to pick up at least one other memory box for my collection. I was blown away by the Alice in Wonderland piece so I'm thinking I will probably end up with it, if it is still available.

FYI - According to the colddeadfish website, the next WDW release will be Main Street Station in October or November. What I don't understand is why the WDW piece will sell for 40% more than the comparable Disneyland piece!

With regard to the Walt Disney World miniatures collection, the next piece due to be released is the Main Street Train Station, which will retail for $345 and is expected to be released in October or November of this year. It is apparently a gorgeous piece, highly detailed, with some surprises too. There has also been some discussion about doing non-Main-Street pieces in the Magic Kingdom as well as pieces from the other parks at Walt Disney World, but all of those discussion are currently in the speculation stage only.

Very Cool. I worked at WDW on the college program and also for five year after that. Now I am in Atlanta and would like to start a WDW main street collection.

From reading up, it looks like there are about four-five mainstreet WDW pieces so far. So looks like I could start out collecting these little by little.

The key for me is making sure there is a nice WDW platform released later so I can piece all these together.

Price: Yes these do seem pretty high. I assume the WDW pieces have a more limited audience compared to the Disneyland collection. I would think most people are Disneyland fans since this was the first park.
But I would also think most of the background work and lessons learned from making the mainstreet Disneyland collection would make the WDW collection easier to develop and more cost efficient. Hum.

Also I am very interested in adding a real train track around the WDW platform whenever that is released.

Should be a fn collection to start.

How cool would it be to also add in each attration in each land and do a ful WDW MK. :)
