Disturbing-Scarey-Freaking Out

Nope, not buying it. Without a uterus, there's no place for an embryo to implant, no structure to support a placenta. Plus, if this really happened, I think it would be reported in medical venues, not on a Christian channel.

Whether the story is true or not, I don't know. But I do know that God could do such a miracle (if She wanted :teeth: ).

Where did the baby grow? If you have a hysterectomy they remove your uterus.

Good point! I'm still waiting to hear where the baby acturally developed. In the fallopian tubes?

Who's to say is hasn't been reported in medical venues.

I went looking last night for a story on this. There were a few reports of pregnancies that developed outside of the uterus but only one live birth from this and it was 20 years ago. Another site said ovaries do not grow back.
I don't believe the story, sorry.

Did she say where the baby grew? It makes absolutely no sense that the baby could develop if there was no uterus.

Couldn't be. In a full hysterectomy, the tubes, ovaries and uterus are removed.

Sounds like that baby would have been tangled up in the intestines. Probably not an ultrasound photo you'd put on your frig.

I totally don't buy it. Why was it only on TBN and not on a mainstream news station?

Mind you I am Christian so don't attack me and say God can do this - I know God can do miracles, but come on, this is the age of instant news. This would make a great puff piece - someone would have picked up on it.

Maybe the woman convinced the TBN reporter of her "miracle" because he wanted to believe it was true. Or maybe it is like the tabliod papers near the check outs in the supermarket....as long as SOMEONE believes it's true, they print it. I agree, this would be in the mainstream media if it were authenticated.

Did you read this in the National Enquirer or Weekly World News? If not, then the doctors probably screwed up. Didn't do the operation right or something....and just pocketed the money.

I am. I've looked and my SIL who is a nurse at a huge research hospital looked through their system(I called her and asked if she could find anything). It doesn't exist--if something like this happened it would be huge in the medical community.

::yes::

If God wanted someone to have a child, there would be easier ways for Him to do it, like leaving a baby on her doorstep!

No uterus, no ovaries, but a baby? It'd be on the cover of a special edition of the New England Journal of Medicine. No way.

The Christian channel should be embarrassed, they're under an ethical obligation to perform at least some due diligence. I mean, even Unsolved Mysteries wouldn't touch this one.

I don't know why this is turning into somewhat of a debate. It is unbelievable, but Pongo69 was just repeating what she heard and said she hopes it doesn't happen to her. If it really happened, then it was a miracle. Did it happen? Who knows, and who cares :confused3.

I'll tell you why *I* care. I battled 10 years of infertility hell and can't tell you how many times "helpful" people suggested I just didn't have enough faith, or maybe it wasn't "God's will" for me to have a child. It's people like that who would believe a story like this and use it as an example of what would happen to me if I "only believed". Never mind the actual physical, medical issues behind my infertility. It's not only unfair, it hurts like bleeding hell.

I'm not saying that's what the OP is doing at all, btw. I'm merely responding to your question.

I am very sorry that you had to endure the infertility hell that you did, zagafi :(. I am a Christian. AND I believe that "religious" people who say "Well if only you had MORE faith, then God would grant you a miracle" are complete idiots . They are WRONG. I don't watch TBN, and I don't know if the TBN people implied that or not.

By asking "who cares?", I just meant that none of us know this lady, so whatever happened (or didn't happen) has nothing to do with any of us. We know no facts about the situation or even about the interview, so it is all conjecture. I may be mistaken, but it seemed like this thread was headed in a direction that Pongo69 never intended.

I hasn't been. I just checked. (I have access to medical libraries).

If this happened, it would have been verified by medical professionals, and immediately published in probably the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Oh, and if a baby developed in the fallopian tube, both the baby and mother would have died. Untreated ectopic pregnancies kill.

I'm sorry you have problems with infertility and what others have said to you.

Just because I believe in miracles and whatever God's will it will be done doesn't mean others have to. My beliefs are mine just as yours are yours.

Oh, I believe in miracles. Two of my three are sleeping peacefully and the other's in the tub. :-)

I don't, however, think this reported incident is any more than fiction.
