Disturbed by public begging

I wanted to post this here because someone who is always posting to this
trading board was begging for stuff in the Pirates game lobby last night.

This player claims to be "poor", but posts here tell me that this kid isn't.
I did tell the kid that it's really not nice to ask people to "help", but to
try to play games to earn credits to buy things.

So if you are reading this, player I've seen last night...please stop asking
strangers for stuff. You seem like a nice kid, and I know you probably
know what you're doing is wrong.

That's my $.02 on the subject.

I also get disturbed when people beg for stuff because it just creeps me out because they just keep following you and u just want to be like back off!!

I actually had someone "stalking" me by finding me a few times while in my room and saying how "rich" I was and why didn't I give them furniture to "help them out." I said they could play the games just like everyone else and buy their own furniture, but they preferred begging, obviously, because they persisted.

I finally just clicked the Ignore button, lol.

briarrosie, was the kid's name <name removed> ? i know it is kind of bad to mention names, but i think i know him and i just wanted other people to know not to get sucked into his "i'm poor" act. he has i think 2 infernos and a lot of rare furniture. i just don't want anyone to be fooled by him. again, was his name <name removed> ?

JoeBillyBob - As she stated in this post - it is a person who posts on this trading board. So think about it - if you trade on this board - have you begged from anyone?

My only comment to this person - is why do you feel the need to beg? Do you beg in real life? Probally not - so while it is a virtual game - try to use the values that your parents have brought you up with.

So think about it - if you trade on this board - have you begged from anyone?

I always tell players that in the trade room. All this time you spend begging, you could easily get credits from Jungle Crash and the Music Game OR you could practice until you master Fireworks, Pirates, or HM.

I have no idea who this person is, but I have had a similar experience with a Dis'er. This player found me, used a "hey Dis!" line and proceeded to ask for free things, because he/she was poor. This same person had multiple trade threads and plenty of goodies in their posession. How irritating.

I must say this sounds like some of the people on the DVC Rent Trade board... lol beggin to rent cheap points then turning around and renting them for more money. Seems like a lot of work for little payoff!

Yes, I tried to tell my "stalker" that, but I guess they get some weird kind of thrill from the begging -- somewhat like the sickos who open a level 3 game in pirates just for the pleasure of booting people off constantly, it just seems crazy to me.

Ok, So Far I have: Haunted Mansion Hat, Seagull Hat, Gold Mickey Ears, Sorcerer's Hat, Princess Hat, Indian Hat, and Diving Helmet.

All I need are: Peter Pan Hat, The black feather hat, black mickey ears, and herbie helmet. If I'm forgetting any please tell me---Lol.

Could anyone possibly donate any of those mentioned above? PM if you can!! The Only reason i got those hats were by trading them for snowman magic. (including seagull hat)

Also if anyone could donate fireworks or teleportation magic??<<<I have it and wouldn't donate lol!

I need those!! ( I can't seem to get the fireworks one off the game!!)--PM if you can!!

The begging and asking for gifts has really gotten out of hand. I've seen a lot of it in friend's rooms lately. Mostly it seems to be from kids, but I've seen it from people who appear more adult too. It's really sad

in all seriousness. I am not going to even try and figure out who it is, but in vmk there is so much begging we must all be immune to these tactics by now! seeing someone 'plz plz i am poor' is like me listening to my wife speak.

I just ignore the begging if anyone askes me for something that is not a friend of mine it is an automatic NO.

I see the posts on this board asking for stuff and I don't even read them.

If I can play VMK and earn my stuff so can they!

As I said about the virtual "family" situation, this is getting out of hand! They are "begging" for free stuff because they are poor, BUT I follow them after they leave. AND GUESS WHAT I SEE??! I SEE AT LEAST ONE OF EVERY QUEST ITEM! You'd think we'd be immune to this "threat", but NO people are throwing away quest items as if they were pennies! VMK should focus on this because a friend of mine got banned because they were reported for giving nothing to a guest something. My friend was banned for life for some mysterious reason, but they created another account and now is getting back all her rarest stuff back! I found the guest and let's say... he's banned for life. Because, he lied to VMK, scammed people, and harassed people. I saw all of this! I was harassed, a friend was scammed and banned!

I am disappointed that it's someone here on DIS that's doing it.
I fully believe it's a kid doing it, and I hope they read this and know it's
about them.

It's not just the begging that disturbed me. It's that the person might be
using stuff obtained from begging to make trade offers.

I don't think of this person as a true blue DIS person.

They are getting more sophisticated. I had two ppl I didn't know come into my room and start giving me sob stories about how their girlfriend broke their heart and stole all their furniture or other stories meant to elicit sympathy and a gift. When ignored they go away, but it does seem like a low use of the game!

She needed it so "very very bad."

I now feel guilty for supporting the whiner and vow to never do it again.
