Distraction ideas for long lines

If you have a digital camera you can play camera i-spy. Have eveyone close their eyes and the pic taker then zooms in EXTREMELY close up to an object that is in plain view of everyone in your party (like a sign or a sneaker, etc.)and snap a pic of it. Pass the camera around and see who can guess what the pic is of. You would be surprised how hard it is to identify an eveyday object when it is in extreme close mode.

This has saved us sooooo many times. Other people in line around almost always get involved too, so we make friends at the same time.

Have a blast!!

Awesome Idea! I will do that. Have made a note in my travel journal!

I know this sounds practical, but try to plan your rides around FAST PASSES! We went in August 2006 and rarely stood in a "regular long line"! My 19 yr. old and his cell phone got most of the fast passes and would meet us somewhere else in the park. If a regular line was too long and we didn't have a fast pass, we would skip that ride and come back later. We rarely stood still on our trip. I do remember the line at the "Great Movie Ride" at MGM being really long - no fast passes - but the line was indoors in air conditioning.

We did rides at all the parks this way - line too long: come back later. (Of course, we had the luxury of a 7 day park hopper.) I thought the lines waiting for the character's autographs were TOOOO long, but of course if the kids really want the autograph and picture, you have to wait! Just remember, if you go to Chef Mickey's to eat, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and ... will be there - so remember to bring your autograph books with you to eat. That way you can AVOID the long Mickey, Minnie lines in the hot sun ......

Join Tour Guide Mike and don't wait in lines. :cool1:
No...really. He is worth his wait (pardon the pun) in GOLD! His advice is worth every penny you'll spend on distractions. We went in August and waited no longer than 10 minutes for a ride, and that was the exception to not just walking directly on rides. 10 minutes will fly when you discuss the ride, and what's next, and how did you like the previous ride, look at the digital pics you just took...see there's 10 minutes:)

I was going to say the same thing. Research and avoid long lines. We went in June 2006 - the longest wait time we had using TGM suggestions was 15-20 minutes. Nothing was needed except conversation which you don't have to pack and carry ;).

Once we did wait in line for 45 miutes to ride Dumbo at night - not a great idea, but the kids really wanted to ride it at night. We had nothing to do, but at least it wasn't hot and our kids made some friends in line that they talked to.

I also found some really cute Disney fans in the checkout line at Walmart. They are the kind with the foam blades, so they don't hurt. I know they had Cars b/c I have two boys, but they also had something for the girls too. I just can't remember what it was.
I think they were about $3. Not bad. I bought them to be little surprises for my boys when they wake up the first morning at Disney along with some light up Pirates of the Carribbean pens ($1).
Too cute!:thumbsup2
