How do you get past having a distorted body image? I picture myself much heavier than I am and have trouble seeing who everyone else sees. I figured I needed to lose a good 20 pounds to be my ideal weight (I've lost 60+pounds since joining WISH) (I'm already at a normal BMI), but today my Dr. said that I'm pretty good the way I am and that I really shouldn't lose more than 15 pounds. I just wish that this bellyfat would go away and then it would be easier to accept the pounds. I'm already doing between 150 - 200 crunches per day. I guess it'll just take more time.
Thanks for letting me ramble :goodvibes

Don't flame me, but its tough to compare ourselves to what we see on t.v. or even during our daily lives. There's many more physical expectations for women, it seems unfair. That's great that you've lost as much as you have. Sounds like you're on the right track. Listen to your dr. If you are truly not really happy I don't think loosing 5-10lbs. would kill you, (Don't hold me liable here). Don't be too hard on youself.

Yes, (I'm going out on a limb here) if you have had kids, your belly fat will be the hardest to get rid of. There's a lot of muscles around your stomache and it will take time for your skin to shrink back.

As I posted earlier, you've gone this far. You're looking great!

Thanks :goodvibes The belly is definately stretched out from my dd.

I've had three children back to back to back. I'm still wondering if my stomache will come in any more. My youngest is almost 4. :rolleyes1

I can totally relate! I reached my WW goal weight of 135 last spring and have been on maintenance ever since. I have been lucky enough to keep the weight off and remain lifetime.

My problem is I still feel so fat. I have been trying to tone up but I think this body has just had it. I too had 3 kids back to back to back and you can tell if you see me naked! LOL

At WW they will not allow me to lose any more weight. I once weighed in at 128 and got reprimanded. I am by no means skinny. I carry all my weight on the bottom. I am still a size 8 or 10. There are women who are 130 and all toned and look great. I am a big ball of mush. LOL Don't they know that fat weighs less than muscle!

Anyway, now I feel better that I've vented. I am trying to just increase the cardio to burn the fat and do more toning exercises to firm up. I have to just come to grips with the fact that I am 36 and worked hard to lose the weight. I should be and am proud of my hard work and success. I just wish someone would have told me when I was younger to take better care of my body. I am the ligher now than I was in high school but the body is just not the same.

Keep up the good work and remember that we are not supermodels. We will all have our imperfections regardless of what the scale says. Just be proud of what you accomplished! :sunny:

thanks! Now I don't feel like I'm the only one who feels this way.

So if you join WW, they set your goal for you? What do they use to determine what they think you should weigh?
