Distance from Swan/Dolphin to Epcot front entrance?

Can anyone tell me the approximate distance from the front door of either Swan or Dolphin to the front gate/main parking area of Epcot? DH is running the marathon in January and a runner friend told him it was only about a mile. He would love to avoid that 4 a.m. last bus if possible, and a mile would be fine with him for warming up.

Has anyone done this or is there a map that would give me this info?

Gosh--that is a toughie! I'm guesstimating that it is about a quarter to half a mile from the Swan/Dolphin to the World Showcase entrance. The entire World Showcase promenade is 1.2 miles so give or take half a mile there since he'll be going ojne way. Then, I'd think it would be another quarter mile to the front of Epcot.

Are you talking about not going through Epcot but going to the front entrance before the park opens, like you would on the bus but by foot? If so, you might want to post this over on the Transportation Board. Chip n Dale Express (Tyler) might be able to answer this one since he is a WDW bus driver and a vast wealth of information regarding the distances around the area. Just an idea!

Carrie -- I guess that's what I'm asking. I don't know exactly where the marathon begins, except that it starts at Epcot. DH was just trying to avoid using the runners bus since it leaves so early! Start of the race is at 6 a.m., but they want the runners there at 4:30, so the last bus is at 4 -- REALLY early! That's why DH wondered if he could just walk/jog to the start, but I really don't know exactly where that is. I'll try the transportation board.
