How far is it?

Is it walkable? How long would it take?

Thanks :)

To walk at normal pace, probably 35-45 mins depending on if you have little kids that are walking and such. But you could just take the boat over there instead since it stops at the Yacht Club, then walk from there. The boat would probably be only 20 mins.

Cool - thanks very much for the advice.

We stay at the Boardwalk each year and can make it to MGM in 15 min. walking. Faster than the boats since they make stops at Swan & Dolphin. So you should be able to make it to BC in less than 30 min.

take the Friendship Launch at MGM, it will take you to the Beach Club after a stop at the Boardwalk.

If walking you have to go on the walking path towards the Boardwalk - I rather do the boat than walk, you end up sweaty.... :upsidedow

Based on my personal experiences, you have this backwards. Unless you have very young kids with you who are walking, once you've exited the park it shouldn't take more than about 20 minutes (give or take a few) to do the walk if you keep a steady pace. I did it with my 9 and 7 year olds a couple of weeks ago. How long the boat takes depends entirely on how long you have to wait for a boat. When we did that walk a couple of weeks ago a boat had left the dock a couple minutes before we got there, so we decided to walk. When we got to the bridge to the Yacht Club the next boat that we would have been on wasn't even in sight on the way back. While our walk took about 20 minutes, had we waited for the boat is would have been 30+. Yes, if you happen to get to the dock at the studios and a boat is waiting for you the trip wouldn't be more than 20 minutes, but on average you can plan on the boat being 30 minutes, and we've done it quite frequently.

The boat leaves the Studios and stops at the Swalphin first, and then the Yacht/Beach Club.

The walk from DHS gate to BC takes about 25 minutes. I have found that actual travel time is faster walking than taking the boat (due to the stops the boat must make), and that does not even take into account any time waiting for a boat to show up at DHS (which can be up to another 20 minutes).

I agree. We were just at the boardwalk last week, and with the wait time for the boats, and the walk to the BW, we beat the boats to the BW every time. It's not a bad walk to BW, maybe 15-20 minutes and another 5-7 to the BC. We walked to epcot every time except 1.

I hated the boats...took way too long.

I agree with the others, the walk to the BC is faster than taking the boats, even without factoring in waiting for a boat.
We did the walk from the BC to the DHS in about 20 - 25 minutes. It is a pleasant walk and we enjoy it.
The only time we take the boat is if it is in the middle of the heat of a hot day. Otherwise we always walk.

Here's a question for all of you - I have done this walk before, but it was years ago & in the daytime....is this path walkable at night? Is it well lit?

Absolutely walkable at night. We never took the boat to Studios or Epcot when we stayed at Boardwalk and Dolphin. In fact, my nephew wanted to see if he could race(and beat) the boat on the walkway from Studios to the Boardwalk...he did! The boat driver blew the horn at him when the boat finally caught up. My advice...walk it. To the Boardwalk Inn, 15 minutes...to Yacht/Beach 20-25 minutes. You're not crammed in with a lot of sweaty/tired people either!

The walk is really nice at night. We have always walked to and from the studios. We find it much easier and quicker than the boats. For anyone that likes to exercise, its also a really nice run in the early morning to go around the boardwalk and to the studios and back.

It'd be a hike, though. You should probably take a boat from MGM to the Beach Club and walk in. You can also take a boat from MGM to Swan and Dolphin and walk the rest of the distance.
