I'm wondering how far it is from DTD West Side to the Grosvenor Hotel and the Doubletree Hotel? I'm taking a bus to DTD from OKW to rent a car at one of those hotels. I can get a slightly cheaper rate from Budget at Doubletree than Dollar at the Grosvenor. But I'm curious how much farther it is to walk to the Doubletree.

TIA

It is not much further- maybe .25 to .50 mile from there.
We have walked that stretch many times - then again we love walking vs. driving in that area. Too many cars on that road!!

Amy,
If it helps, Budget offers "pick up" service from the Doubletree. You need to call 24 hours in advance. They will probably pick you up right at OKW ? This is from Budget's web site :
To use our free pick-up service, first, make your reservation online. To request pickup, call the Budget location directly at the phone number listed on your reservation confirmation. Requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance of pickup. When you call the location, be sure to provide all applicable information including exact time of pickup, precise address, and a phone number where you can be reached at that time.
Hope this helps !

You can also rent a car from the CCC and they too have pick up service. We used them last year and they sent a shuttle to the front of the resort to pick us up. It was the cheapest car available from any of the Disney locations.

alot of the cars rentals have been hurt by disney's ME -

I was surprised to learn that the Dollar in the airport has a shuttle and will take and bring you back to your hotel - from the airport - I don't know about surrounding areas - or if this is just the airport one.

that was a surprise the last time I booked with them - they certainly didn't have this service or I would have rented a car for my US/IOA, not to mention outlet mall....

This may be why the prices for rentals are so high ? It took me 2 hours yesterday to search for a decent price for a compact for 4 days in early Oct. I was getting as high as $275 !??? Finally got a code and booked thru SW airlines for $140 with all taxes/fees included. But I really had to work for that searching for codes and all..... :badpc:
I suppose ME is pushing the car rental places to raise their prices to recoup some of their losses ?

I got a compact for $12.99 a day for a few days in September. Thrifty at the airport. Priceline will show rental car rates, even if you don't book through them or do the bidding thing. This last time around I bid $14 a day and got rejected from them, then realized they were showing the Thrifty rate, so I went to Thrifty's website and booked it there.

The Dollar counter at the Grosvenor also has a courtesy shuttle, although I've never used or rented from here before. But we do currently have a reservation for Dec and when you get to the confirmation screen, it gives a phone number and tells you that they will come and pick you up.

you didn't ask on the transportation board - I got an economy car for $154 including all fees with dollar.

the last time I rented back in 2002 it was $125 - so I think it is a good rate.

although now I want to try your SW rate - I already have my flight with them how hard is it to add a car?

mousesavers has some codes

so does magicard

No, you're right.....but I was feverishly reading that board. That's where I found the SW discount code. I also did check Mousesavers---didn't get as good a rate with them. There was a Walmart code that got me $180 (included all fees/tax) for a compact. But the SW code worked the best. It was very easy to add the car to my existing flight. The code posted on the Trans Board was : WN333

thanks for the code.

dollar is out of my car type.

the two cheapest were demanding that I buy their insurance and won't allow me to rent without it (which I though was illegal)

they are still a little cheaper - but Dollar is at the airport - with them I have to CALL their shuttle.

now if the rental companies have a shuttle at the airport - those are still a good deal - but having to call to even get their shuttle...

sometimes a deal isn't worth the price you paid.

I will try again later! thanks!!!
