Dissappointing March Break in Orlando

:)

We landed in the morning of March 8 2010 and we were there for 9 days. We flew and were mostly in the Tampa Bay area and got nice weather. We headed to WDW for the Tuesday(9th) and the weather was nice and sunny. We also didn't need sweatshirts while watching Wishes. Then on the Thursday(11th) we headed to KSC and that day it poured all day, and when we headed to DTD it stopped:love: The next day(Friday 12th) it poured all day and we ended up shopping. Definately cooler then last year but was warm enough to get a tan and burn on the Wednesday. When we left on the following Tuesday(week of the March Break) in the am, the temperature in Tampa Bay was the same as when we landed in Buffalo in the afternoon:scared1: No how cool was that.

We were there the 7th to the 13th. Yes, there was a monsoon on the Th?Fr. But overall we had a great time. Last yr, we went President's Week (who knew it was a WEEK?) and it was packed. This yr, we rode everything we wanted and barely used FP. Saturday the 13th at Epcot was busy. FP for TT gone by 3 pm, and the FP line was packed, prob a good 20 min wait, much different than the Wednesday prior, when it took 5 mins to board the ride. The guy on the boat from Fort Wilderness to Contemporary Friday in the driving rain was hilarious. We had ressies at Crystal Palace so we were on the boatat 8 am. He took our picture, saying only hardy Canadians would do what we were doing!

I'll take some bad weather over the crowds from last yr any day!

We were there from the 12-20th. But stayed off-site in a pool house with heated pool and hot tub so we got plenty of use of the pool. While we would have liked warmer weather we didn't find it too bad at all. We did only one day at Disney and that was the 16th, it was really busy earlier in the day but we were there until the park closed at midnight and it did get quieter. Much busier then the Nov/early Dec crowds we are use to but we had a great time especially since there were 16 of us. Would definately go for March break again but only do one day at Disney. DD is going to be in highschool in 2yrs so pulling her out will not be as easy. We did enjoy a more relax vacation and doing some other stuff in the Orlando area ie Tampa Bay/Penquins hockey game, spring training Jays game, airboat tours etc.

digskat ... where was the house that you stayed in? We were in a condo at Emerald Island, less than 5 min from Disney property. :)

And yeah, Laura is the same age as your Kaitlyn, so we've already talked about the inability to pull them out of school once high school is upon us. :( Laura really really wants to do the 1/2 marathon when she turns 14, but I just don't see how I can pull her out, even for less than a week, when it would be mid-Jan and her semester 1 final exams are looming.

March break was crazy at Disney, but we only did the parks 4 days that week which is pretty unheard of for us theme-park-aholics. :rotfl: And we really did get most everything we wanted to done. We just didnt' get to do our favourites several times. ;)

So what are our options??? End of August in that heat and humidity? And with the recent years of free dining, it's pretty busy. Christmas is definitely a NO, and DH says he won't go back March break. Boy, this "learnin' stuff" really puts a crimp in a family vacation. :rotfl2:

Hey Maryliz,
We stayed on Seasons Blvd, right behind Medevil Times just off of hwy 192. We rented it with another couple and two other families that are friends of ours were just down the street. We only did the one day at MK, all of us had our Give a Day get a day vouchers. While it was way busier then we are used to, I didn't find it that bad....or at least not as bad as I was expecting. Would definately do Orlando again in March but perhaps only one park day again. We are headed down Nov 15-26 and staying a few days at a DVC hoping for AKV will know the 19th. Then at our timeshare (bought on ebay for $30) Vacation Villages from the 19th to the 26th. We are hoping to do the parks at the start of our trip to avoid the Thanksgiving Rush. It was awesome to go with a bunch of friends. The other two families that have never been now understand our fascination with WDW. Friends of ours are going Dec1-10th this year and pulling their son out of HS for that time period. Another friend has taken her daughter that week to. I think school for the most part is winding down for the holidays and there seems to be a PD day that week. With us driving too it gives her time for homework..Take Care my friend too bad we didn't run into each other :) perhaps another time. Kat
