Dissapointed again

just wanted to say my dd got dissapointed again,last year she got the dreaded rejection letter and then last night got the results from the web based test that said she didnt meet their criteria .. i think disney will be losing alot of good candidates this way and the quaility of cp cast memebers better not go down because of this hiring process. i have alot of money invested in wdw and would hate to see that happen. I wrote an email to the recruiters but it probably wont matter, it just made me feel a little better,but my dd is still heartbroken and just a bit p*****..

I agree with you. It's very easy to make a couple of costly mistakes on these kinds of quizzes. Especially if you are not used to taking them you don't know that it might be bad to put down a lot of "agree/disagrees" or "neutrals" instead of the stronger ones. It's really not a fair way.

i wish they woudlve like tested it before doing it like this.
they should've given out the web interviews but still accepted everyone to go onto the phone interview and compared the statistics of people who failed the web-interview to people who weren't accepted after the phone interview to see if it was an effective step
b/c this just seems really blind, you know? a huge risk thats probably not worth taking
not that i'm underestimating disney's abilities lol but i just strongly dont agree with this decision

^ I agree. At least give everyone a chance to do the phone interview or let everyone apply again before next season. What if this was the only time the program was good for you? Even when applying for other jobs they'll let you come back and try again. Disney doesn't have to make it that long- they could say maybe try again in 30 days or four weeks or whatever.

I agree! I was hoping to do Spring before I got into taking courses for my major, and before I turned 21 (because I don't want to be tempted by any of that stuff).

I've never had a job before, and I was really hoping Disney could be my first if I wouldn't be able to get a job this fall. I really had no idea how to answer the questions, so I answered them honestly and truthfully. It stinks that Disney is being so picky.

I want to go to the presentation at a local school that's a month away from now and see how that is. I doubt they'll have any accommodations for me, but it can't HURT to go? I just wish there was a way I could email them and get a second chance. I don't want to beg or get rejected or have them make a special case for me.

I just started taking ADD meds for the first time in 5 years in hopes that it would help me on the CP. I answered the questions according to the way things are NOW, but they're going to change. I should have stated that. And if I am a bit untidy, I'd for sure make changes when I'm down there because I want to be there so badly. It stinks that with the web-based interviews, Disney won't give you that chance to explain your reasoning behind your answers.

maybe if everyone who agrees should email them with your opinions- i did. this was dd's last chance,she graduates after this semester and after she completes an internship,she was hoping to use the cp for her internship. and no there are no more pro internships left for her either,she will have a degree in travel and tourism/lodging and property management,and a certificate in casino man. hotel/motel man and diningroom man.

Out of curiosity - what is the this web based thing like? I know they used to start the CP interview with a series of basic questions and if you answered one question wrong you wouldn't be considered. I'm wondering if they just moved these questions to the web, or if the questions are different.

The questions that I'm thinking of are: Are you able to follow Disney Look (i.e. tattoos, piercing)? Are you okay with working with full ability (7 days a week, 24 hours)? Are you okay with working on holidays?

They've been doing the web based interview for the Disneyland CP for a few years now. If it didn't work like they wanted it to, they would have gotten rid of it. But since this is the first time they're doing it for WDW, it's obviously effective.

I heard Disney wants to try to get stricter on who they accept into the program - I suppose this is their way of doing it. I think they just want to see who qualifies as someone they want living in their apartments and working for their company. In the past, I know they have had troubles with people getting termed because of alcohol, parties, etc. And people have been accepted and then showed a lack of interest (i.e. calling out constantly, not taking their job seriously, and self-terming). Disney is probably using this web-based interview as a way to figure out who is going to put forth all their efforts and who is going to take the rules seriously. When taking these sorts of surveys, the people who take them, I think, should take them keeping in mind that it is a form of interview and based on how they answer the questions about themselves, Disney can see which types of people show the qualities they want in a CM. In an interview, I don't think it would be wise to tell the employer that you are messy, aren't fully interested in learning on the job, and things of that nature.

I'm not sure how I feel about the web-based interview, however. I did not have to use this for my CP and I saw many CPs not care about their job. My sister just took this interview so I'll get to see what results of it are through her time on the program. I feel bad for everyone who got denied so quickly through this, I can't imagine how disappointing it must be I wish everyone else taking it the best of luck!

The web based interview is a GALLUP. A lot of companies use this test to hire new employees. It's an employment personality profile. They ask you questions about work, your personality, your reactions to things and so on.

I believe Kroger has this kind of interview, and I think someone on here mentioned Best Buy.

The reason I don't like it is, once you get used to taking these interviews you know what kind of answers you should put. I don't think it really helps determine who is Disney perfect and who isn't.

Just picture yourself in a work environment and imagine what kind of employees they would want. Don't picture yourself in a school environment because school and work are two completely different situations. You have to be consistent with your answers- they'll ask you a couple of questions multiple ways. For example "Are you a reliable person?" and then 10 questions later: "Can your co-workers depend on you?" Make sure you're always putting the same answer. Sometimes they'll switch questions around to try to trick you or throw in one word that throws it off.

You just have to read carefully and really try to understand what the question is saying. What you think it might mean at first could really be interpreted another way. I've heard it's good to put down a lot of "strongly agree" or "strongly disagree" as opposed to selecting "neutral" too many times. Also, don't let the timer run out on too many questions. I ran out of time for only one and was okay, but I don't know how many is too much so I wouldn't risk just not putting down an answer.

Pure has good advice. I was nervous about it all day and put it off until about an hour ago. There really isn't anything to sic yourself out about. Take a deep breath, read the question and answer. If you answer it honestly and think of yourself in a work environment then you'll do fine.

my last job, i kind of just got put into b/c the other girl quit. it was convenient but there was no interview, application or anything.
