We are going to WDW in a month and I was thinking of getting some of those disposable Sippy Cups.

And have a couple of questions since i have never used them.

Are they leak proof?

Can a 16 month old get the cover off?

TIA

I brought them for my 2yo and she was able to open them and shake till spilled!!! I did bring 2 regular cups and washed them each night (just used for water or juice) gave her milk (soy) out of cup w/straw or just used cup in room...in am before we left for parks.

Good luck!

the plastic take a long ones I havent had an issue with. My son whom is 17 months today, carries them around the house. With brand new carpet. no issues. the paper-ish ones by zoo pals... NIGHTMARE.

Hi! I love those disposable sippy cups. I use them at home and on vacation for DS who is 16 months and the loss fit pretty tightly. They do not leak unless the child shakes them or tips them over and shakes (as my DS sometimes does). They are just like any other sippy in that respect. I would definately bring them with you to Disney:)

We have the take & toss sippy cups for 5mo+. They are almost impossible for us to open let alone a infant! They say they are spill proof, sometimes they drip when upside down, some times they don't.

This is what they look like:

they also make the bigger ones too in 7oz & 10oz that are rounded and ones with handles. You can find them in Target, wal-mart, BRU.

I just bought DD for easter a sports bottle for 6mo+ at BRU. It looks like a regular sports bottle for a bike just smaller with characters on it. It says it is spill proof, we will find out!

My kids (21mos and 3 yrs) can't get them open. Heck, I can barely get them open. VERY tight seal. Problem is that they both then to drop them (or throw them) and they do splash a bit when that happens. I don't use them around the house at all (I like the Playtex cups better - never leak) but for outings I use the disposable. And, like you, I do plan to take them along to Disney b/c that way if they get lost I won't get upset about it. :rotfl:

thanks so much I have some I got for my shower with him I will give a try this week to make sure they are good to go and then only bring one or 2 of our regular ones for the room

I saw some take and toss cups at Target just this week that had screw-on lids. They also said they were spill proof. I think they were a newer version of the ones with the snap on lids. I didn't get them though, so I can't say how well they work.

My kids were a bit older than yours and we took lots of breaks, so we didn't bother with sippy cups in the parks. We just used hydration backpacks and drank water in the parks. (You also would get a drink if you are buying kids meals.) They had regular sippy cups in the room and drank juice and milk when we were there (morning, afternoon nap, and evening). That way we didn't have to worry about carrying/losing the cups in the parks and having them get nasty in the heat.

I use the Take and Toss ones but they do leak a little if put upside down and shaken. Also my DS throws them all the time and if he throws it enough times or just the right way the lid can come off. I found this out in Macy's. Overall I like them though, I'm sure my DS would be able to spill any type of cup.

I tried those disposable sippies once in WDW and didn't like them, they leaked. Now this was a few years ago so maybe there are newer/better versions today. I know they still sell the kind I used though.

What I did after that though was just took a couple of our regular sippies with us and rinsed them with hot water when I was able to, then gave them a wash with soap and water every night in the room. One was for milk and one for water. Worked fine. :)

The Take N' Toss ones are great... we use them often/daily, and honestly I haven't had one wear out yet, and we have some that are old. I wouldn't toss them! In fact, I've tossed many Gerber and Nuby sippies... haven't "tossed" the disposables yet. They rock, and they are cheap enough that if you lose one, it's not a big deal. :thumbsup2

will your little one use a straw? my dd will not drink plain water out of a sippy cup but if she's given the water with a regular cup, bottle, etc, she will drink it all up because she loves the chance to use a straw. that will be our plan for her when we head down to wdw. granted she is a bit older but she was using a straw before she mastered the sippy cup! :)

i would hate the idea of having to pick up a sippy cup every few feet when she "drops" it from her stroller.

good luck!

DS is 16 months old and hasn't tried to open the take and toss cups. The number of spills have been small and the leaks only happen if left upside down or if DS shakes the cup. The lids do fit tight as long as you run your finger along the top to make sure it's really on. Ask DH about the cup that "has the lid on" and how fun it is to wear milk at breakfast. :rotfl:

There are tons of different disposable kinds at BCF. There are even Disney Princess and Cars! They also have 2 kids of lids, the spout kind and then there is an angled one that runs along the lid rather than sitting on it. Sort of like a coffee cup lid but still has the 3 tiny holes.

We used to give him the soft spout cups with handles until he learned how to press the spout down and make puddles. He had surgery last fall and the hospital gave him a Gerber plastic changing color sippy cup with the hard plastic spout. What a blessing in disguise! It took him a while to learn how to drink from it but now that he's got it down they are all we give him. No spills, no leaks!

We took the take and toss sippy with us. If your child bites on the spout and pulls the lid will come off. They do leak a little. I would suggest if your child can drink out of a straw to get the take and toss straw cups. Less leaks.

Thanks everyone. My son is finally drinking from a sippy cup my dd was doing this at 9months so the difference between the 2 is quite different plus my memory of stuff is not the best since this was 6 years ago with DD.

I am going to try straw cup I have here too. I am just trying to get the ducks in a row.

The take and toss ones do leak. I found that my daughter 2 yrs last year wasn't drinking enough. Well I have a water bottle attachment that makes the water bottle a sippy cup. Once I did that she started downing the water. She felt like a big girl because she was drinking a water bottle like the rest of us! I still use it here at home when she isn't drinking enough during the day.

We used the Take along sippie cups with us last January. We didn't have much problem with them unless we gave them juice with pulp in it (orange juice). The holes in the lid would get plugged with the pulp. We all found ourselves at one point or another sucking on the sippy cups trying to get them working again. I am sure that we looked quite funny doing that. Oh well.

I have some of the regular Take n Toss disposible cups and a pack of the newer ones with the screw on lids for the 15 mo. old that I babysit. If they shake them or leave them laying down, they do drip but pretty much all sippy cups do. She has no problem taking the lids off - clips her teeth on the edge and lifts. Which is why I stopped using them and bought the screw on lids. I use just the cup portion without the sippy lids of the original cups for my kids to drink from.
