Disposable flip flops for Kali River Rapids

As others have said, you also need to account for the rain. It's easy to say "we'll just 'duck' into a store", but that's easier said than done.

Update - Wow, some good points and a lot of unsolicitated feedback. I decided the best option for us is ultra cheap flip flops, not disposables.
  • With 10+ trips to Orlando since 2014 (in my signature) I am aware it rains and plan for that, note that I mentioned ponchos. I also have other contingencies which I didn't think were relevant to my question specifically about riding Kali.
  • We are a closed toe shoe family.
  • We are a family of 5 that typically travels with grandparents. Solutions that may be simple for 1-2 people can be impractical and cost prohibitive for larger groups.

If people give you extra "unsolicited advice", it's ok. I appreciate the extras because sometimes it's something I didn't think about or something new I can learn. And as a side note, there are closed toed, safe, supportive sandals that are waterproof. They're game changers.

Despite 7+ trips to WDW we have never ridden Kali because we don't want to get soaked and as the family pack mule I have not wanted to bring along extra shoes. For our upcoming trip in July I will have ponchos with me everyday and I would be willing to bring disposable flip flops like the ones you get for a pedicure. Amazon has a 24 pack for $3!!!
Would these types of "shoes" be allowed?
How much are the small lockers at the front of the park running these days?
Could I leave them in the Kali lockers for an extended period of time (all day)?
Thanks!

We don't carry a bag to the parks so here's what I do for Kali. We are also a closed toe shoe family when in the parks (I've seen some bad and bloody foot/toe injuries on open toe shoe wearers at Disney. No thanks.). I take a rain poncho and a plastic shopping bag. I open the poncho as we're getting in line (we always used FP and now LL for this ride -- so it's a quick walk through the line for us) and wait until we're walking through the covered portion of the line to put it on (I don't put the hood up until were ready to go down the hill on the ride, but having the hood up is crucial to avoid water going down your back). I then get out my plastic bag for my shoes so I have it ready to go once we're seated. I put the bag over my shoes and tie the handles loosely so the backs of my shoes stay covered. Very easy. I do it every trip. I've had many people laugh at me for wearing the rain poncho and covering my shoes but Karma usually gets them and *they* end up being drenched. More than once I've had a thoroughly drenched "laugher" see me after they get off the ride and say, "Next time I'm wearing a poncho.' :) I even had a CM very rudely tell me a poncho would not keep me dry on that ride. I looked at her and said, "I've done this numerous times and never had more than a little corner of my shorts get wet." Unfortunately the CMs had shifted by the time we got back to the station and I didn't see her anywhere so I didn't get to show her that I was still perfectly dry after the ride even though I was in the "seat of doom".

The rest of my family doesn't mind getting soaked. I hate it. It happened to me once -- in June -- and my clothing was still wet several hours later. Not fun. And while we have experienced many afternoon rain showers (we always travel to Disney in June), they are rarely so heavy that they make our shoes wet enough that they don't dry quickly. Those showers are quick and usually light and many times we're able to duck into a store or show until they pass. Riding Kali is more like potentially having someone dump a huge bucket of water on you. Very different than a quick afternoon shower.

Take the poncho and plastic bag.

You're going in July. Why not just wear Keens or Tevas or Chacos or choose your brand of supportive sandals that can get wet? It rains at some point almost every day in July, and cheap flip flops do not provide traction or support if your feet get wet from a downpour. And then you only need one pair of shoes. If you get a good pair of sandals, they are just as supportive as a pair of sneakers.

Not true. I have flat, narrow feet and I've yet to find a good pair of sandals (including the ones you named) that work for my feet. Almost every "supportive" pair of sandals I've tried has caused pain in the arch area of my feet within 30 minutes of casual walking. I've probably spent well over $1000 on various sandals that people have insisted are as supportive as sneakers. Maybe they're as supportive as cheap sneakers, but none of them have ever come close to a good pair of supportive running shoes for me. I have a few pair of Ecco sandals that I can wear for two or three hours at a time but I'd never be able to tolerate them for hours in the parks (I do use them at the resort, though.) Not everyone can wear sandals for the large amount of walking that is done at Disney and not everyone *wants* to wear sandals in the parks.
