What is the best way to get disposable waterproof (high ISO?) cameras through airport security? Will anything damage them going (unused) or coming (used)? TIA!

Carry them on- have them hand checked. Ours made it back from Discovery Cove just fine. They might have gone thru the scanner- I can't remember asking them to hand check.

I think that they are generally just fine in the scanners. I don't know that I would put them in checked luggage as it is my understanding that the scanners are more powerful for that type of luggage, but the regular canner should be just fine. You can ask them to hand check, but these days they will probably tell you to put it on the conveyor belt anyways. Regular film is fine in the scanners as far as I know, so the cameras should be too.

I bring photo mailers with me. This way once the camera is done I just pop it in the mailer and send it off. So I dont' have to worry about it going through after the film has been exposed. I dont' think I have had a problem with a new unused camera.

The signs at every security place we have been at on our 15 day vacation, said the scanners they use are safe for both digital and throwaways. They also had a sign that said please do not check camera film or digital media.
