About six months ago I saw a news feed on the yahoo finance website for Disney's ticker symbol that there was an app being developed that would allow the user to build and manage their own version of Disney world (basically a Disney version of roller coaster tycoon is how it sounded to me). I haven't heard anything else since then and Googling Disney "world app" gives too many off topic hits. Does anyone know anything about it?

Apparently it's still coming, but not here yet. I think @rteetz posted about it in the main news thread recently.

Do you guys remember what the name of the game was?
Magic Kingdoms

I think there are still pre-registration bonuses available.

I too will likely be over the premium/freemium model pretty quickly, but I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt. It can be done well (Simpsons). Or terribly (Family Guy).

The Star Wars heroes game is pretty solid for a freebie as well. Thanks for the info.

This looks like it will have a lot of potential. I first heard about it about a week or two ago and signed up for the Pre-Reg bonuses, I am looking forward to giving it a try.

I didn't realize it came out tomorrow. That is exciting!

I wish they'd do a true Disney version of Roller Coaster Tycoon (or Planet Coaster, based on what the new RCT game looks like) instead of a mobile game, but Disney mobile games are usually quite solid, so hopefully this one will offer lots of possibilities.
Mobile is where the money is right now. I don't know how well a PC or console version of RollerCoaster Tycoon with a Disney overlay would do. Even EA has migrated a lot of their Sim content to mobile.

I just dislike the whole freemium model concept, and sometimes mobile gaming can be very limited as far as their possibilities, but since mobile is gaining so much popularity these days and technology has advanced quite a lot, hopefully game developers will work on more robust and complete experiences. Just look at something like the new Assassin's Creed: Identity.

The freemium model can be executed well or it can be super frustrating. I don't mind games that are ad supported. I don't mind games that can be played without buying the added content. I do mind games that launch challenges that require spend, spend, spend... and I agree - In some of those instances I'd rather just pay $20 for an Xbox version.

But why take my $20 when they can squeeze $1000 out of some sucker for sprites?

I always thought there should be a "free" and a "complete" version.

You cater to both the casual and the dedicated markets then.

iTunes sells song and then gives you the option to "complete the album"

The current games means I spend zero on them...which is lost revenue and I guaranteed us crusty gen xers who grew up with games and consoles are an all but lost demographic to mobile bait and switch nonsense.

Installed. Deleted. Typical freemium-ware with gem packs for $100, and 2 hour waits for progress.

The graphics are cute, and I'd definitely pay for a real game, but this is not that.

I'm giving it a day or two but so far I agree.
