Disneyworld Marketing Vent (Need advice)

I was so happy because, as I posted a few days ago , I had the money set months before my balance was due to pay my trip off! Yay!

So lo and behold, two days before I was going to call and actually pay the balance and get the confirmation etc. , I get mailed to me one of the magical $49 a night at POP postcards. Yay!

I was psyched and decided that now I was going to change it and do room only and UPH pass for 3 nights/4days and save some $$$ (right now we have the dreammaker package basic w/ our room and the difference between that and room/pass seperate is only $6 so we stuck with the package since we want the Leave a Legacy tile at Epcot anyway). But I figured with the $$ we'd save doing room only / UPH seperate now we'd just pay for that seperate and still come out on top.

So just now I go to call...and I look closer at the postcard. It has my last name, my address, my everything. BUT it's in my brother's first name. (My brother has never lived here and has never gone to disneyworld as the primary reservation holder).

The CM checked with her manager and said I could not use the postcard. I argued with her about it and explain that Brian has never lived her, nor paid for a trip to WDW (he has not been since he was a small child). I asked her if I could speak to someone to at least make sure my brother does not get postcards sent to my address ever again and she said no, but she'd send them some kind of form. I asked her if she could have them assign me a code number so I could at least get the discount; yeah right! I asked her if I could have my brother call and explain to them that he does not want the post card and if he could tell them he wanted to give it to me. Again, I was told no. I asked them if I could just GIVE the postcard to Brian on the off-chance he wanted to use it and go himself. The CM said no, the card is basically useless because they screwed up.

I am SO angry right now. I really want to write Disney a nasty letter. I truly think they should have given me the discount since THEY screwed up.

I am so mad right now. So I paid off my $518 balance and my trip is all paid off. But it would have been so much cheaper if I was able to use the postcard and change things.

Am I overreacting?

I do want to write a letter to DIsney and tell them how angry I am that their marketing dept. messed up, and sent me a discount code that I can't use because of their mistake. Does anyone know of an address I can write to and actually get a response?

Don't you just hate that stuff!!! I have recieved offers in my mom and my son's name that I couldn't use, even though we have paid for every vacation!

I would absolutely write a letter to a supervisor at Guest Relations. You aren't overreacting and deserve the discount. As a repeat guest, you deserve to be treated with respect and they should be bending over backward to help you out.

Write that letter E.

I don't think that you are over-reacting. There are a couple of threads about the postcards on the resorts board. It seems quite a few people have received postcards either in the name of friends or relatives at their addresses.

They doublecharged me too. I just went on to check my bank account ( I never use credit cards, always bank cards...) and saw they double charged me. I was using my vacation account which had what I needed to pay off the balance + a little more (but not enough to cover a double charge). So now I'm going to be stuck eating the overdraft fee with my bank.

I'm on hold right now with them trying to get them to reverse the double charge before my bank sends me the overdraft fee (I don't even know if that will work).

It's not a good day in Sheri-ville right now.

Well, they reveresed one of the charges. Hopefully because it is Sunday the reverse will go through before my bank's fee does. They also sent a letter to my bank explaining what happened. SO that should help if the fee does go through first.

Problem #1 solved. You guys are the greatest. Thank you all for listening and making me feel better.

OK, what exactly is the secret to receiving one of these postcards I keep reading about?

Never received one and I've been to WDW twice in the past 6 years. You think they would want to encourage me to return more often. (Which I really do)

What if your brother wanted to use the postcard and he tells the CRO that he just moved and has a new address. They have to honor that. Well either way, they have to honor it if your brother wanted to use the pc, Disney screwed up not your brother.

Why don't you buy an AP (or two) when you go? I've got my reservation (rack rate) at Pop for December, and I'm hoping for the usual AP rates to come out eventually. If you go at least every 51 weeks it would probably be worth getting AP's. And the AP would probably pay for itself if you don't find some other kind of discount.

I know what you mean, though. I got a postcard at my house for my sister before (she lives in Oklahoma) and couldn't use it. But a couple of days later my mom got one at her house for me and I could use it . Weird.

I'd be upset too EsX. They were willing to give that rate to someone so why wouldn't they let you use it? Very curious.
