Disneyworld in September?

Hello all,

I'm planning our first Disneyworld trip for myself, my husband and our 4 year old daughter. We were initially going to go in late April/early May, but our resort of choice (the Polynesian) is booked. I started to look at other times and noticed that September was listed as a great time to go (I am NOT a huge fan of crowds. I realize it's Disneyworld and there will always be crowds, but I'd love to go when they are at their lowest). My only concern is the weather. I know it's hurricane season and I'm willing to risk that, but how about the rain?

I'd love to hear from others who have gone in September and what their experiences have been like.

Many, many thanks from a Disneyworld novice!

That's my favorite time to go - last week of August - first week of Sept.

Usually the rains are not bad - an hour or so (bring poncho with you at all times). Crowds are light - some days we only need fastpass - once since the lines are short. :thumbsup2

We always go in September and love it! There are not many crowds and although you do get some rain we always get plenty of lovely hot days :cool1:

We usually go July/August. Went last year in September for the first time. While we had to leave a day early to avoid driving through a hurricane, the weather was very nice when we got there. A little hot, and we only got rained on twice. This, coupled with the thin crowds(and wishing for free dining again) is why we are planning September again this year.

The only rides that we had to queue for really when we went was the biggest rides in the parks e.g. TOT in MGM

We always go in September....gone once the first week of December for the MVMCP but September is great! Weather can be iffy of course but isn't is always in Florida! We've been lucky and in all our Sept. trips only got hit with a Tropical Storm once where it rained buckets for 2 days straight back during 9-11-01. We ended up having to extend that trip because of the storm and the 9-11 closing. Last year we had like no rain the entire time except light rain a couple times while we weren't at a park. The only time that ever happened. Usually you can expect a passing afternoon storm, and it can be quite a down pour, but it is usually very quick to pass. My SIL went in June and had tons of rain!

Crowds are so low and it's still hot. If you go the end of the month you can catch the first Halloween party. Cross your fingers for no hurricanes and if it rains,:umbrella: grab a poncho and have fun!

I haven't been in September in a long time. I bet it would be nice.

My DW also hates crowds so was willing to try September last year. Our daughters had a 3 week break in Septmber so they missed no school.

We thought it was great. We arrived on Labor Day last year. The resorts were quiet, virtually no line for the CS. The time in the parks were great.

Realize you will still need ADRs. Disney knows this is a slow time and has planned accordingly. They are less CMs in the restaurants. So you will some restaurants are half full and they could seat more but they don't the CMs.

It was so good, my DW is willing to go again this September.

You will enjoy it.

My first trip to WDW was in late September. We did a land/sea for our first anniversary. We were ended up being in between two hurricanes but it was not that bad.

My complaint was how hot it was...and that was only because I had never been in that kind of humidity before. I actually welcomed the showers. While everyone else was cowering under cover my DH and I were out in it (without a poncho) getting some relief from the heat. The showers only lasted a short time.

The crowd level was great! We never had to wait or even do fastpass!!

We would do September again!

I'm such a novice! What's a CS, CM and ADR?

I went with my friends last year in September and we are going again this year in September! It's the best. The downfall is the weather. You walk out your hotel door in the morning and get blasted by humidity/heat, and it rained every day we were there, but you're in DISNEY WORLD!!! :sunny: So we just wore the raincoats we had brought with us and traipsed along. Virtually no wait for anything. We had a blast. September is a great time to go. :thumbsup2

Hi! We will be there in Sept for our first trip too!!! I've heard good things about that time. I'll be there with dh and dd(5 at the time). We're so stinking excited!! I get to make ADR's next Saturday!!!!!! :woohoo:

I'm from Alabama, and I think we had more hurricane traffic than Orlando last year! Hopefully they will stay far, far away this year. I don't like hurricanes.

We went in sept last year 2005! We were told to take light weight ponchos ($.97 @ walmart). Never needed them once!!! But I would strongly urge you to have them handy. Light weight is important cuz of the heat!! IT IS HOT but no crowds!!!! Walked on to so many rides, it took longer to get to them then it did to actually wait our turn to get on (did that make sense??)!!! My husband and I decided we will probably never go any other time of the year but sept!!! We have had friends go sense we have been there and can say we got so much more for our $$$ then many of them!!!! If you want to get the best bang for your buck sept is the best. Not to mention the water parks are great this time of year. Great weather low crowds!!!! Man I sound like a sales man for "SEPT". Good luck planning

One of the lowest crowds time to go. Have a great vacation.
