For the time frame you are going or throughout the entire Free Dining time?

I wouldn't doubt it on your dates. That's about the start of school year for many kids. I know I would have no problem letting my child miss a few days of school to go on vacation in WDW. (I do pull mine out, but we go later in September).

Don't fporget the sales target for that time of year will be quiet low, and the best gauge is by how wasy or hard it is to get tables as it is free dining.

I had read on this board sometime that Disney was offering 2500 free DP packages. I can't imagine that 3000 more people would make the place any more busy. And I can't image that they went way beyond their quota. Their computers should be set up to only allow X amount of packages (or in other cases rooms). And once their quota if maxed, that's the end, they can no longer book more. This can sometimes be seen when you try to book a vacation/room. For example: I go to book my room at POP but the only rooms they have listed online is preferred rooms; but if I call they might have standard rooms still availible.

What you want to consider is that their sales quotes for the late summer/early fall value season as much lower then they will be for let's say Easter week or Christmas week. So just because they meet/exceeded their sales quotes it does not mean it will be crowded. We will be there from Sept 23rd through the 30th and the only thing that the FDP did was instead of the Swan getting our money POR is going to.

we changed our dates from 8/28-9/1 to 8/21-8/26 and we got standard at pop. i got all adrs at the times i wanted so i am wondering just how crowded it actually will be

I am also going in late September and got my 1st choice in hotel, last year I had to go with my 3rd choice because all other mods were sold out for free dinning. I also got all my ADR's today including Le Cellier at 7pm.... :goodvibes

Maybe gas prices are keeping people away, I went to book airfare and it is $62pp more than last year in September :furious: This is most I have ever paid to fly to MCO in the past 10 years.

Just off the phone w/CRO...said the deadline for booking the free dining has been extended 'till 6/24...because it has been so popular. I know the resort we would like is gone for our dates...it is forcing us to save $$$$ tho, as ew are going moderate instead of deluxe.

:confused3 When I spoke with a CM today she stated that they had extended the deadline for booking the free dining plan because Disney had not filled as many rooms as they had expected with the dining plan..... Who knows? :confused3

I would think an extension means target not met or just trying to see if they can capture a few more sales. I would think most people would have started making plans, but hey you never know...it might be too tempting to pass up!!! ;) If I wasn't already planning 3 trips..... :teacher:

This makes more sense to me.

:confused3 Shouldn't they end the promotion on June 4th and release AP rates and general public codes? :confused3

We're going Sept. 29th but we're NOT taking the dining plan. It just isn't for us. Plus, we're AP holders. I have AAA rate at the GF but would love an AP rate! Oh well - it seems Disney is bent on this "free dining." I personally do not think that paying rack rate and getting our meals for free is a deal, only because we aren't big eaters and I don't think we'd get our money's worth.

Come on, Disney. Offer those codes!

scanne, you would hope that , but I guess their aim is to get NEW people who then turn into AP holders and keep coming back! Get them hooked on the awesome food experiences...you know the rest. I , for one, miss the old codes...can you believe we had CR for 135 a night once? And WL woodsview 121...ASMU 55! Now THOSE were the days!

Disney must also know that free dining isn't really a deal too especially staying at the deluxes and they will go with whatever makes them the most money. How many posts have you seen where people have said because they are getting free dining they are upgrading to a deluxe at rack rate. Ap is the better deal if you are staying at deluxes or only have two people in your party in my opinion.
