Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

That's me, too.

We're a funny group of guests for sure!! lol

This is why I end up with too many split stays. I love the resorts so much and have such a hard time settling on where to stay! It's not so much that I "miss" the other resorts while I'm at another, but then again, I've only stayed in one place for a maximum of 7 nights (and that's unusual).

I'm hoping for a Beach Club villa for a few nights in mid-January, assuming one is available at 7 months. It's been too long since I've stayed at the Beach Club, and I've never stayed at the villas.

I'd LOVE to stay in one of the new BC Villas - they look very pretty and tastefully done. January is one of my favorite times of year to visit....maybe a long weekend...which is very long overdo!

Mid January, after the marathon is history, might not be too difficult to get at 7 mos - fingers crossed!

Although we won't be staying at YC/BC during our stay next week, we will be visiting as I booked dinner at Captain's Grille. I also think that dessert to go from Beaches & Cream may be in order. We always visit when we are there

Yum and yum!!!!

I was on the phone with Guest Services yesterday regarding a "lost refund"..yes friends, you CAN have too many changes to a reservation. We chatted about her wedding at BC years ago. I can't wait to come see DS at the CP, and walk to WS!

A lost refund...imagine that!! ;) Hope it was found and everything is all straightened out now. I cannot even begin to imagine how exciting it will be to see your DS in the CP!!! I've forgotten....are you at BC, BWI or Poly for the visit? Do I remember BWI? Going to a pretty darn Magical trip!! ::yes::

Thanks for checking in here Tara

We will be at the Poly late July. I wish it was BC, I am definitely in love with the Epcot side.

That said, December I will be at BEACH CLUB (I actually haven't even changed that one.....)

I love both resorts. What gives the BC the edge for me is the pool - the salt-water Oasis pool is fantastic and the splash area is great - but SAB has the lazy river and that sand bottom area, being able to walk to Epcot, and the overall brightness of the rooms. The Poly rooms are very nice after the refurb a few years back and they're much brighter than they had been. But the BC room we had last summer had such a lovely open feel to it. And there's that walk to Epcot. I mentioned that already, didn't I?

I have two non-expiring passes from a while back. One adult and one child with six days each, no park hoppers. When I use those, I will likely stay at the Poly because I can't imagine staying at the BC and not being able to park hop. This past trip at the Poly, we only park-hopped on one day. But last time we were at the BC, we hopped every day, I think.

Beach Club Review

This was our first time staying at the Beach Club and now we don’t plan to stay anywhere else. From the moment we arrived on the Magic Express we felt at home. My Disney TA booked us a BCV studio for 5 nights. We were able to snag an updated room (566) and loved the big corner balcony. The room was light and pretty with white wood and granite counters. The fold down bed with the Donald Duck background was adorable.(Sorry I did not take a picture) My husband said, “This is the best I have slept in years.”

The pool was the best part for our almost 5-year-old daughter. She loved Stormalong bay so much we skipped the park the last day to hang at the pool. The drinks at Hurricane Hannah’s were yummy especially the Sunken Treasure. We ate breakfast in our room each morning using groceries from the market. The prices were not much more than a regular grocery store. The only restaurant we tried out was Captain’s Grille at Yacht Club for Mickey Waffles. I had the lemon ricotta pancakes and they were delicious. Our server Sean was very sweet, polite and friendly. All the staff we dealt with were polite, helpful and friendly. We have been home a week now and I asked my daughter last night, when we go back where do you want to stay? She said, “Only the Beach Club.”

We loved the 5-minute walk to Epcot and the 20-minute walk to Hollywood Studios. We took the boat one day but it took more time then walking. We used park hopper passes and they came in handy. We ate dinner 3 nights in Epcot and enjoyed the illuminations show. See you all in 2018 if not sooner!!

Any resort that you can walk to a park is tops in my book. Our first stay was last summer and it was truly magical. SAB was a hit as well.

Super cute pic. You can really tell what a great time you guys are having.

I love how you know we will harass you for a pic of the fold down bed. LOL. I didn't know it was Donald. DS will be excited. I'm hoping for a BCV studio for our next trip. There are only 2 things that give me pause for BC... the quick service situation and the age of DS for the pool. Did you eat any lunches or dinners not in the parks? Did your daughter ride the slide?

And this is for Cowgirl or really anyone who has younger children...
We probably won't go back to BC until DS is 9, but he really likes to be independent in the pool and he's a good swimmer. Could you see letting your DD walk to the slide alone or be in a different section from you at 9?

I let DD6 walk over to the slide by herself. I watched her the first few times, but then got comfortable - it's a quick walk.

I wouldn't have any concerns letting my son go over to the slide on his own at that age (he's eight now). We stayed at YC in 2014 when my middle daughter was 9 and she went by herself. Sometimes with her older sister but she didn't mind being alone.

I think the entrance to the slide being outside the pool gates is more worrisome in theory than reality. There's a kiddie pool at the base of the steps and it's usually got people in it. There are people walking up and down the walkway. But I think that makes it more safe, not less.

The quick service situation didn't bother us. We were usually in the parks until after lunch, so we just got snacks after that and either ordered something at the pool or had dinner at whatever park we visited that night. My sister didn't like the breakfast options, but honestly, she's difficult in that respect. If only her brand of pickiness was of the chicken nuggets and French fry variety, my trip with her would have been so much easier.

My daughter, who has been going to the BC since she was eleven years old, wouldn't let her kids go on the slide. She wouldn't even tell them that there was a slide. The kids were age 6 and 8 and I know my dare devil granddaughter would have been at the slide every minute of the day if she knew it was there. The kids had a great time by the sandy shallow pool and the lazy river. When our 8 year old grandson wanted to join in some of the pool games in a different area, my daughter went over there with him.

My 4 year old daughter went down the big slide 4 times with us catching her. She did the little slide on the ship more times then I could count. I would be ok with her doing the slide alone at 9. There were a ton of kids going by themself. We loved the sandy kids area, it was like being at the beach without worrying about waves, jelly fish, etc. plus it was a very short walk to Hurricane Hannah's. :-) There were lots of families getting quick meals at Hurricane Hannah's. There kids meals come in a little green sand bucket with a shovel.

We did grab a quick lunch at the Market Place to eat on the bus to MK. It was very good and fast. I just wish I could order off the kids menu. My daughter got lots of good food for almost the price of a happy meal.

Did she just not want the hassle of continually escorting them? Or just not think slides are safe? I imagine I will just have to be patient and see how he matures. If I'm judging by this afternoon's behavior, not so much. Lol.

We leave for BCV in 3 weeks. You said you were in a renovated room--566. Is that whole wing now done? I thought I had read that the wing with rooms x53-x78 were being renovated now (well, started in mid March). It would be awesome to hear if these rooms were all done!! We'd really love an updated room!!

We leave for BCV in just a little over 3 weeks and I'm wondering the same thing, especially as I requested canal view (not that I expect my request to necessarily be honored).
