Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

If you booked a garden/woods view then you will most likely get a room facing the villas building or facing the woods between the BC and Epcot. There may be a few garden view rooms on the lake side of the resort. If you booked a lagoon/pool view then you will face Crescent Lake. :)
No I booked standard view sorry I forgot to say that.

Looking for some room location insight. This weekend, managed to get a spot in the 1/2 marathon in April so this is a last minute trip. Not a lot of room selection - we got outer building, garden room, club access. Any experience or thoughts? How remote?

Sorry to be re-posting my own post from p.394, but since no one replied, I thought I'd give it another go.
TIA!
Hi so I am a newbie to DVC but as I understand it the main difference is the housekeeping. You should not have a problem with availability if the room is booked at 11 months out. Cancellation is also not as flexible as cash reservation. The owner can book magical express and the dining plan if you want it. Once the reservation is made the owner can give you the confirmation # and you can link to MDE to make fast pass, dining etc.

ADRs done. I got everything we wanted. I did end up having to ring up after the system glitched on me twice and made me reservations for today :rotfl2:but this was soon put right and I wont be hit with a no show credit card charge :thumbsup2

My adr day today too and I made two reservations for today!! Had to ring twice as I didn't spot the 2nd one, not sure what that will have cost me on my mobile from the UK!! Hopefully less than the no show charge!

Hmmmmm...... the room description sounds more like Grand Floridian, not Yacht or Beach. There is no outer building at either YC or BC. If that's the case, you would probably get more responses on the GF thread.

Having said that, I have stayed in the outer club level building at GF and it's not a bad location. Probably about a 2 or 3 minute walk to the main building.

Did you use the 0800 number? It transfers you to the US call centre. Sorry - assuming you are from the UK, but probably not!

I tried the 0800 but they said that as I had booked on the US website they couldn't help me and I had to call the US number. Never mind, I got all the adrs I wanted, just looking out for the rivers of light package now!

When we arrived on Wednesday there were no greeters and we were directed to checkin at the front desk. We were then escorted up to the 5th floor, but did not feel special and was not offered a drink like we were in September. Was kind of bummed with whole experience. Now, this morning on or way out we did see a greeter outside, so I am not sure if they are there only in the earlier hours of the day, we arrived at 3:45 in the afternoon, or not. The cast member who checked us in did say they were cutting back property wide on the greeters.[/QUOTE
wow I'm so bummed to hear this! It was so nice after a long day of travel to be greeted and welcomed with a cocktail and breakfast. I know that it probably seems trivial, but it was one of the perks and special treatment that we felt like we got out of paying extra for club level. We've only done it once, but now that they got rid of that, and unlimited bevs in the lounge it makes me rethink things a little :(

If I am recalling correctly, some of the King Bed rooms have a daybed and some may just have an extra chair and ottoman. But I don't think the room assigners would (or can) put you into a room that does not have proper bedding for everyone on the reservation. In any case, you may want to word your request "King bed room with daybed, if possible"

:goodvibes:

Thank you! Good to know about the king bed rooms - I will definitely add it to our request.

We had to call in as well as we couldn't get the system to work - we were able to get almsot everything that we wanted - I was bummed there was no prepark BBB left! That's OK - we have everything else booked and we do have a morning BBB - so I'm overall very happy!

Sorry to be re-posting my own post from p.394, but since no one replied, I thought I'd give it another go.

I recently learned that a colleague of mine is a DVC owner at BCV. We talked about the possibility of her making a res in November for us at a 2BR for October 2017. I have read a lot of posts that say that a 2BR during F&W is almost impossible, so I thought I should jump on this opportunity. ( I know it is not a guarantee that she will be able to get it, but it's worth a shot) I have known her for a while. We always talk Disney when I see her at school and I trust her. She has trip insurance and if I have to cancel ( due to my parents health issues, most likely) she would refund my money. I think this would both save me money and increase my chances of getting the 2BR.
My question, of course, is what are the downsides? I know we would only get housekeeping on the 4th day of our 7 night stay. The only thing I would miss there is the magical disappearance of the sink full of dishes every day! We usually drive, but this time we plan to fly. How would I arrange for ME? When I put the res number into MDE, can I still make ADRs at 180 days, FPs at 60, and get MBs in the mail?
I really hope this works out. Thanks for any info and advice!
TIA!

Like ~Ninjamom, I'll reinforce that if you don't get answers to your questions, always feel free to post again and hopefully someone can help. I am also clueless on DVC questions, so I am no help there, but I think most/all of your above questions have been subsequently addressed.

:goodvibes:

Do the CL Lagoon/Pool view rooms at the YC have views of the fireworks? We were upgraded from a GV to LV room back in November 2014 and we had a great view of Illuminations. We are staying CL this year and are curious if there's a chance that we could see either HS or Epcots FW at night from our balcony. TIA.

Some YC CL WV rooms have views of the upper Illuminations fireworks. I think quite a few of the rooms in this category- the ones with Lagoon views and looking out on SAB to the left, have pretty decent views of Hollywood Studios fireworks shows.

You can check out the Yacht Club Room View thread to see a sample of some of the possible views from YC CL WV.

We just booked our trip to the BC for August! I'm literally bursting with excitement-- can't wait to spend the next few months planning and discussing with all of you!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

Pleas let us know if you have any questions.

:woohoo:

Hey all,

During our trip in April we have a "night out" planned to Disney Springs where our MIL watches the kids at the hotel (we're at the "Beach" side). Since we have the whole afternoon "off" planned, we already are planning on doing a Hurricane Hanna's lunch while we all hang by the pool, and the Marketplace options for dinner don't really appeal to the kiddos.

What's the best "take out" option for dinner in Boardwalk area (if any) that we could set up my MIL, our 9 yr old son and 2 year old daughter with prior to us taking off for the evening? Does ESPN do take-out (and as someone who has walked by ESPN probably hundreds of times in my life but never actually ate in there, would it be worth it?)

Thanks!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

Have you looked at the menu for Hurricane Hanna's? The kids can get to go meals in a sand pail, and there are some sandwiches and other things available if you want to see if they would appeal to your MIL.

We have done "takeout" and take back to the Beach Club from Sunshine Seasons, The French bakery (sandwiches), Tangierine Café in Morocco and the Japanese quick-serve. The two issues we have had are that they don't have carry-bags (Like the handled ones or plastic ones) and the bakery in France would not let us get crème brulee to go because they said it would melt in the August heat (the mousse I guess is sturdier)

:rotfl:

We will be at the BC in June for only 5 days. Now to figure out how to make time for the resort especially the pool !

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list!

:thumbsup2

Do any of the standard rooms have King beds, or is everything 2 queens unless you get a suite?

:welcome: to the thread! Let us know if you decide to switch your reservation over here.

::yes::

Looking for some room location insight. *snip*

Sorry - wrong thread. Will go to the right place.

Although you didn't mean to post here, :welcome:

Hope your vacation is fantastic!!!

They recently updated the BC room photos on the WDW website. The funny thing is that all room photos show the now non-existent clock, but no telephone.

Who knows, maybe the phones will be the next room amenity to disappear. :confused3

I imagine that the photos were taken following completion of the refurb, but prior to availability for room occupancy.

That's funny!!!

Thanks for posting the picture.

Hello. Two questions:

I booked a room at Yacht Club and it lists a whole bunch of bedding options- we have 5 people. Am I correct to assume they will automatically give us 2 queen beds and a day bed room because we have 5 people or do I have to specifically request it?

Pools- do the two smaller Yacht/Beach club pools and/ or BCV pool remain open all night? Or have even those smaller pools become fenced in with a gate and specific lifeguard hours?

I have a quick question on rope drop at International Gateway. For our 2nd trip to F&W, we definitely want to get to Canada since the lines were sooooo long on our first trip and we ended up skipping it. Since WS opens at 11, where is rope drop located if you enter through IG? Do they let you go through the security check and then hold you at the bridge (where straight down the hill is UK and the right turn across the bridge brings you to France)? Thank you!

I believe that parties of 5 will get sleeping spaces for 5. That usually means 2 Queens and a Day Bed. However, if this is not available when you check in they will give you a Roll Away bed to the room.
All YC/BC pools are now posted as closed overnight. They are not yet fenced, but it is clear that they are closed.

For regular Rope Day via the International Gateway you will enter after security and be allowed to turn right to the French Bakery which opens at 9 AM now for breakfast, or turn left and walk through an empty UK and Canada. Other than the bakery in France and Akershus in Norway, all of WS is closed until !!, but you can enter at Rope Drop, at 9 or even 8 on occasion.

They block those entering at IG from turning to the right and crossing the bridge over to WS, unless someone is going to the French Bakery, which opens at 9:00 o'clock. However, everyone can turn left at rope drop, after entering at the IG, as that is how to get to Future World, from the IG entrance. Canada is on the way to Future World, so you will be able to get there before official rope drop for WS.

And interesting answers that are making me think.

Let's say it is between 9-11 and you are at the International Gateway. You will be let in and allowed to go to France for the bakery or proceed to Future World, since it is open. And as mentioned above, perhaps you could linger in Canada until/unless someone tries to move you along.

What about people entering from Future World to go to the French bakery? I assume they are allowed into WS between 9 and 11 to go to France (or Norway if they have breakfast ressies).

Are there lots of CMs hanging around making sure people keep moving to the destination?

I was at France before 11 in January, but it was the morning of the marathon, so it was pretty busy and hectic in EPCOT and not a true test of what happens in WS between 9 and 11 on a normal day.

Since we own DVC at BCV we enter Epcot through the IG frequently and for years. In my experience there are CM's "manning" the points that you can not go beyond. Both in France and in Norway. They will allow anyone to access the bakery in France from 9 AM on, walking from Future World, over the bridge to France and the bakery. They will stop you from continuing on in WS towards Morocco, as that is still closed. Same at Norway, I believe.
I have never seen CM's "hurrying" folks along through the UK and Canada. I don't know, but I suspect, you could linger there if you chose to.
Before the bakery in France opened at 9 AM, there were CM's with a rope on the bridge to France. You could not take a right from the International Gateway into WS towards France, but you can walk directly through the closed UK and Canada to Future World at 9 AM
