Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

I have family currently working at Beach Club.

Touring Plans room finder is extremely inaccurate when it comes to room classifications and amenities. When you get a pixie dust upgrade your bill will always show the original room type you booked.

Do with this information what you will, but I just called the guest services number, and when they looked up Beach Club room 3681, it is classified as "standard view". Perhaps it is something that has changed recently. But, we all know you can ask 10 cast members a question and get 10 different answers!

Very true.

As of 3 minutes ago, 3681 is a Pool/Lagoon View. And has been since that category was created.

Just to add to the Mystery. At some point it was a "Standard View" room based on this old map that I have which shows it as a "Standard View" room and based on the location layout on the map, I would agree that it should be a standard view room today for the view overlooking the roof directly from the room door.

Note: I added the red arrows and the circle showing room 3681.

I just checked the newest map of the rooms that someone had posted several months ago. I can't remember what page it was posted on but dansdad is correct based on that map (if I remember correctly, it was on the counter and a picture was conveniently taken!) I had copied it to a file document and have used it since to see what room we have been assigned and have checked our previous stays. Each time the type of room has been correct based on the map and type of room booked. We have stayed lagoon view club, standard view and also garden view.

According to this, it is a Standard View room:

If you view your reservation in MDE, it will show the actual room type you occupy, even if it's not the type booked.

I hate to say it, but the person on the phone didn't have an attitude. It sounds like she was telling the truth. A standard view at BC is a rooftop or parking lot view. I'm curious as to why you thought you should have been moved to an upgraded room that you didn't pay for just because one was available and you didn't like the view in the room you did pay for. :confused3
By that logic....there's a ton of Mercedes available at the lot next to the one where I bought my Ford.....I mean...should they have just put me in a Mercedes because it was available, even though I had a Ford budget?

Actually, if you look at what I said, I asked for a different standard room, not an upgraded room. She led me to believe that there weren't any available. I think in customer service (and in life), there are ways to say things that sound softer. She could have worded her response differently. We even offered to give up the balcony or switch to a King room, so we were being very flexible. All we wanted was a different Ford, which I don't think is unheard of for people to ask if anything else is available.

We are just back from a quick 4 night trip, from December 20-24. Overall, we had a fun time, and packed so much into our 3 1/2 park days. We stayed at the Beach Club for the first time, and our reservation was for a standard room. We loved this location, and walked many times to and from Epcot, and once to and from Hollywood Studios. Using the International Gateway is amazing, and is such a more relaxed feel from the main entrance.

I wanted to share a bit about a standard room, and 2 different locations that we had.

While we were still at the airport in the morning before our flight, I got a text that our room, 3722, was ready. My only request had been for a full balcony. We had 5 people on our reservation originally, but at the last minute our 2 older kids opted to not go, so it ended up just being 3 of us. I was able to find a picture of our room view, and it was not good. While this room had a balcony, you really wouldn't want to sit on it because you were essentially on the roof. So, I called the number provided, and just asked if there was anything with less of a roof view. I also mentioned that we could either do a King or 2 Queen room, since we were now a party of 3. We would also go without a balcony, and wouldn't be arriving until late afternoon. The person I spoke with was not only not helpful at all (her response was "Well you DID book a roof or parking lot view"), her attitude really put me off. She said that there wasn't anything better as a standard room. We agreed to just live with it, as we wouldn't be in our room a ton.

The location of 3722 is generally good, once you find the staircase located by Cape May, but what was vastly the worst part was that you could hear the noise from the bus stop out front constantly. Because the parks were open late and also very early, it was crazy annoying. We even brought our own fan, and we could still hear that loud bus brake noise.

In the morning, I went downstairs at about 8 a.m. and asked if there was anything else available that was quieter. The hotel didn't feel full at all, and sure enough, a much better room was available immediately, and we moved our things to room 3681, which was also a standard room with a full balcony and 2 queens and a daybed. This room was great! Nice view, above Cape May with a staircase right around the corner. Very quiet, except during the afternoon when the pool party was going on, but we thought that was fun.

I have no idea why they put us in that first room and wouldn't move us when this much nicer one was available in the same category. A huge miss on their part, because it really turned us off from staying there again.

Service was below average. Our room was not cleaned at all. The first full day they came so late that we were getting ready to head out to dinner so we just grabbed fresh towels from them. The second day they never came at all, but we just let it go because we were leaving in the morning. Our safe malfunctioned one day, and it took close to an hour for a manager to come to fix it, which is so frustrating to just sit and wait for them.

I get it that it's a busy time of year, but after paying premium holiday prices to stay there, we expected better. We are not people with unrealistic expectations, and this certainly didn't ruin our trip by any means, but clearly they have some service issues there.

We were lucky to have some nice warm days, and that pool is great! Loved the sand bottom, and that it has shallow areas for little kids, but also deep areas.

I've included a couple pictures of 3722 first, and then 3681.

When you phoned the first time you prob got an off site call centre, not the BC. They aren't room assignors and wouldn't be able to do anything. Next time, wait till you arrive and go straight to the desk if you want to change rooms.
We had a standard room at YC, I think it must have been the worst room in the resort. I took one look at it and went back to desk to ask for a change. We got a different standard room above main entrance, it was a parking lot view, but because of all the trees, you really couldn't see the parking lot. We really enjoyed the view, and was fun looking down watching the comings and goings.
No excuse for poor housekeeping, esp if what I hear is true about hotel being 50% empty. But I understand why you wouldn't bother too much being a short stay. You shouldn't have to be spending your time chasing someone down to clean your room. ESP with the rates they charge for holidays!

We were in this same room in September!! It was definitely a standard room, the hotel was at capacity and we booked a standard with a magical offer ( I asked to pay for a upgrade if possible but that's when they said the BC was completely full 9/23. We loved the room. If you looked to the left you had the pretty view but if you looked right, you had the roof view. I think it was an awesome option for a Standard.

We checked out this morning. Spending some quality time at MK before our flight. We had room 4622: had 2 queen beds plus a daybed. Also had the regular door and window instead of sliders. The shades let in light, but it didn't bother us. The view was nice (of the courtyard with the Ariel statue) and it was quiet. Loved it!! Probably our favorite room except when Teena hooked us up with a 2nd floor room!!

Hi Everyone, I'm staying at the YC 1/25-1/29/17. I just found out this weekend that the pro-bowl is happening at ESPN 1/29/17 with a parade at MK 1/27 and it sounded like things at Disney springs... Does anyone know how this affects everything? Will the parks and hotels be more crowded? I know these are professionals and not kids like in other groups, but do they tend to stay at one resort more than others? If anyone has any thoughts, let me know. Thanks! 29 days to go!

Well had a few surprises upon arrival, we got an upgraded room from a standard room to a deluxe room, and my God it is huge compared to a normal room we are in room 4557 with club access, finding out the resort is only at 50% capacity
we reserved delux room club access for next year. I believe there are only 7 delux rooms at BC. How far of a walk is it to the club?

Hi Dee! :wave2:

I haven't been on the boards since we weren't planning in a trip in 2017 (DH asked for a break). Well, DH woke up the day after Christmas in the spirit of giving since he suggested we not wait until 2018 and just add in more relaxing (non-park) days. DONE!

The next time you are updating the BOG List, please add us: 11/26/17-12/02/17 BCV. We have always stayed in a studio but next trip, we splurged with our points and upgraded ourselves to the 1 Bedroom Villa.

So glad to be "back"!! :woohoo:

Its not too bad, we are in the second wing of the resort, we are right by the quiet pool, so too have that pool right there and being to relax i can deal with the walk

The Pro Bowl is being held in downtown Orlando at Camping World Stadium., not at the Wide World of Sports. I don't see it having an affect on the parks at all.

I booked a garden view room at the Yacht Club and was so blessed to be upgraded to lake view room 4079 :cloud9:

Thanks for all of the great photos from your trip!

:thumbsup2

The Beach Club is a great hotel! Stayed there in August 2004; absolutely loved the convenience of being near Epcot and Hollywood Studios (was then called MGM Studios).

:welcome: to the thread and posting on the DIS.

Do you have an upcoming trip to the resort?

:goodvibes

A few pictures of the Carousel that I took yesterday:

Awesome! Thanks for posting the carousel pictures. I thought I had some Beach Club holiday photos in Post 8, but I don't so I added a link to your post there. Hope you don't mind.

:santa:

HI guys! I'm usually on the runDisney boards but I thought I'd pop in on your thread. I lurk here for trip planning sometimes. We have stayed at the Yacht Club before and kids fell in love with the pool. DH fell in love with popping into WS for a yummy snack whenever he wants :)
We are staying at the Beach Club this time for the marathon, trying out the other side and hoping it's a good location to spectate the race for family and getting to/from the race for me. Can't wait to get a Dole Whip by the pool.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1 (Post 15)

:cool1:

I know someone already broke the bad news about the Dole Whips. They were at SAB for about a millisecond. They were available in mid July 2015, then by the end of August, gone.

But did I just read that Dole Whips, with and without rum, are now being sold someplace at Animal Kingdom?
