Disney's WISH - Trailer

I love Star! I also think we may finally get a truly diabolical villain for a change, and it’s been far too long. There’s nothing worse than a wimpy villain. The trio of Asha, Valentino, and Star remind me a bit of Ariel, Sebastian and Flounder in the 1989 Little Mermaid. I am looking forward to watching Wish.

I don't love the visuals. I REALLY wish this was 2D animated but I guess I'll have to look to other studios for that for the time being. The humor also seems kind of cringe but I'm willing to look past it.

I've avoided listening to the songs and plan on going in as blind as possible when I see it with my family Thanksgiving weekend.

I think it's going to be great. I like the visual style myself, but have also been avoiding the songs other than small snippets so I can go in cold. It seems to have a good amount of traction, so hopefully it does well.

What studio is doing 2-D animation though - aside than for TV that is?

For me, the issue is that the backgrounds and characters don't mesh well together. It reminds me of the Good Dinosaur in that the characters did not look like they fit the environments at all. That might be a me problem though.

Studio Ghibli is releasing a new film in the US this December that looks awesome visually. I'm hoping the Japanese original comes to theaters but if not I'll stomach the dub.

Oh, well, Ghibli - yeah. I was trying to think if any of the other big animation houses had anything 2-D working. I would love to see it too.
