Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE Information & Questions

Hi all, just back from an awesome stay at WL. Just FYI, we got a flier under our door last week that they were going to begin replacing mattresses in the room beginning on Tuesday the 17th, and sure enough they did start changing out mattresses on our floor (6th) that day. Every time we took a bus out we saw truckloads of mattresses coming in, so not sure if they were doing the whole lodge?

Great stay, the scaffolding was not very obtrusive and we loved the updates to the pool.

We check in on April 1st! Yay! Any idea when they WL will have the times for Easter activities? We plan on spending most of Easter day at the Lodge so I'm anxious to see what's going on.

We are thinking of staying at Wilderness Lodge this summer. I have a 3 & 5 year old and was wondering if the main pool had a zero entry section or is it only stairs to get in.

The main pool only has stairs. Our grandchildren were 3 and 5 the first time they stayed at WL and they had a great time in the pool. The slide was fun for both of them, too. There will be life jackets that they can wear at the pool. And there is a brand new splash pad for them to play in. :)

Hi! I'm so excited for June 5 that I can hardly stand it. Our original reservation at WL was for a WV standard room from 6/6-6/11, and we needed to change it to arrive a night earlier due to the plane arrival times. When I called to add a night, my only option was to downgrade the reservation to a SV standard room or switch resorts.

I really had my heart set on staying at WL, so I decided to do that, but now I'm worried about noise from beeping delivery trucks or the loud lobby, depending on which section the SV room I get is in. My husband and I have not had a vacation since we got married and are celebrating our five-year anniversary after some really tough times, so I'd like to make this vacation as nice as possible on our budget.

In your opinion, would I benefit me to keep calling/trying to see if a WV room becomes available? I booked at the spring rate price, and I'm not sure how the pricing works, if that's the reason they didn't have an extra night available or what? We probably can't afford a bigger upgrade than that, but it would be nice to have the WV I wanted from the beginning.

I'd really appreciate any advice or any helpful tips or ideas for a romantic vacation for two at the WL.
Did you change your entire reservation to standard view? Have you considered a split stay, one night in a standard view and the rest in a WV room? Our daughter couldn't get the same room type when she added a day at the beginning, so she ended up with a split stay, moving to another room the next morning. It wasn't too much of a problem, though since the room was ready for them.

I would keep checking to see if a WV room becomes available. The farther out from check in the better your chances are, I think.

Absolutely! We were on the boat to CR at 6:50am for our 7am ADR at Chef Mickey's just this last September! In fact....................................:D You can see our boat ride in the video below! :teeth:

Doug :goofy:

Thanks for that info. I love that we can take a boat there. Great video

I just saw that through Orbitz I could upgrade from a Standard View to a Woods View room for a grand total of $123 which I think is a good deal. However, we are under 60 days and all of our FP selections are made. I imagine if I tried to change the reservation (cancelling/re-booking) I would lose my FP selections, correct?

You should not lose them. Having said that, with Disney's awesome network and system  you never know.

I was concerned that since my first reservation was through Orbitz, that they would have to cancel that one first, which in turn would cancel it out in the Disney system and wipe out the Fastpasses before I was able to rebook.

Hmmm....I didn't notice the cancel/rebook part of your original post, my fault there. You have a legitimate concern there. I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you.

There was some construction going on but it wasn't bothersome at all.

...
These photos are very helpful to me. Since they were taken and posted at least partially at my request, I owed you a "thank you" for taking these. I'm sorry it has taken me so long to say it, but thank you for these.

How long is the boat ride to MK? Do they run pretty frequently?

We found the boat to MK to take about 12 minutes. There is a list of travel times on the first part of this thread here.

As far as time spent waiting for the boat, it will vary with your luck but it shouldn't generally be more than 20 minutes, and often will be less than 10. They run multiple boats between WL and MK, and use two different size boats (the larger of which allow you to wheel strollers and ECVs right on). If you need to wait for a larger boat sometimes your wait will be a little longer.

In general the bus is a quicker way to MK, since the ride takes only 5 minutes, but we (and many others) find the boat to be more fun and a relaxing part of the trip. Enjoy!

Hi all :wave2: I'm new to this thread....trying to read through all the wonderful information here. I'll get through it all before our trip. We are staying at WL for the first time. I visit each time I go to WDW, but have never stayed there. Actually we are booked in a studio at VWL, but close enough.
Our dates are Nov 11-17th. It will be myself, my son who will turn 9 a few days before and a very good DISfriend D~.
The studios look beautiful and I love that they have started making the rooms with a third bed. I am not good at sharing....toss and turn too much! This setup should work perfectly for us.

My biggest concern is the bus sharing. Just can't understand why Disney can't figure out that we don't like it!! But alas....no choice in the matter. We will make it work.

Anyway....just wanted to stop in and say "hello"! I'll be following along from now til November :)

:wave:Kook!

Enjoy your drive down and have a Magical trip!!!

DH has a question and forgive me for not taking the boat on over to the CR thread..... Can we just meander on over to the Cali Grille and grab a seat at the bar if we just wanted to enjoy a glass of wine or other such spirits??? No inclining really to dine there really. I would imagine tho that the bar will become crowded as the sun sets. Thoughts?? :scratchin

:flower3:

:mickeybarHave one of these for me!!!!
