Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

Very excited that our countdown is 101 days until we arrive with our daughters and staying in the Royal Room for the first time. We booked river view. We love this resort so much that we booked again in February for just me and my husband celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary! For this trip we are booked for a king room, which has me a bit concerned, as we really prefer to be close to the main bldg. We also love AKL. but felt that Riverside is so beautiful, has Yee Haw Bob, horse and carriage, and the boat to Disney Springs, that this would be lovely for our anniversary.

Does anyone know what the options for online check in are for a king room?

That's OK, there are a bunch of King Bed rooms directly overlooking the river in Magnolia Terrace, right next to the bridge to Ol' Man Island. Very nicely located. Put a request in for one of those. The King Bed rooms are shown below in purple, these ones are on the upper floor which give a lovely view (many are corner rooms too).

Hi, just wondering about the carriage rides. We are going the end of September!! :yay: If I know the night we want to go on a carriage ride (not sure about time though) should I look into booking it or should we be able to walk up? Thanks!

Can someone who is there now or who recently retuned confirm that there is shampoo and conditioner in the rooms? I'm trying to lighten my suitcase.

Thanks.
Yes! It's been 18mos since my last stay but think it was blushing orange H2O. Seperate shampoo & conditioner. I always bring a leave in too.

You might be able to get a walk-up at that time of year, but why take the risk? Once you know which day you want to do it, it's very easy to book, and then you know you won't be disappointed. You don't need to book 180 days out or anything like that though, the week before should be ample I'd have thought.

Thanks Andre! I was kind of thinking along those lines. Might as well book it and know for sure. We are just a little worried about rain? Would we get charged for not cancelling if it's raining at our reservation time? Thanks so much for all your help!

Sorry for the late reply. We just got back from our stay on Monday - - they provide both shampoo and conditioner.
Edit: Our stay was at French Quarter - - I love reading about Port Orleans so much that I got "lost" on the boards! I'd guess that what they provide at FQ is similar to what they give you at POR, though.

I can't say anything first-hand, but if they cancel the rides then you would not be charged, but if they consider it suitable to still operate then I'd guess not. You can cancel at 24 (48?) hours notice though, so you could always keep an eye on the forecasts - but this is Florida, so never very predictable!

Great! Thanks for the help :-) we are going to book it and just keep an eye on the weather (and our fingers crossed! :sunny:)

Royal Room - no price difference between river and pool view. Which is preferable? Or would garden view be just as nice? Thanks!

Garden view is nice too. We had a GV in Oak Manor that overlooked the fountain on the river side of the building. The pool view rooms were just behind me so I was close to the footbridge. But that's a request, for being close to footbridge. A pool view guarantees that location.

We also had a GV room overlooking the fountain on the river side of the building. We were essentially behind where the movies on the lawn take place. Our location was perfect. We were plenty close to the foot bridge so the location was extremely convenient. (We were running that weekend and trying minimize our walk to and from the room.) We requested close to foot bridge and first floor and I was pleased with our location, but again, that was down to the room assigner grating our request.

Magnolia Terrace how far walking distance it to the food court and pool
We were in building 85, river end.
It took less than 5 min to walk to both the pool and the food court.
We found that building to be in the middle of the 2 bridges over the river.
One took us to the pool and the other came out right by where the boat docks for DS

I've stayed there before. It's a great location!

Sounds like same location except we had 2nd fl. Great location, loved it. When we stepped outside our room we could see river too. Looking left.

Quite close, esp if you request to be close to foot bridge.

Getting close to our stay. We have a Garden View room booked, and I just selected Corner room, because I thought there might be a little more room. There are 5 of us, 3 kids and my wife and I. We don't mind walking, and any floor is fine with us. Is there any reason to ask for anything special? We also don't get in until later at night, around 8ish at the airport, so I am guessing it could be as late as 10 getting to our resort. So I know that timing of when I arrive may or may not play a factor into what room we get. Honestly, I am fine with whatever we get, as I am pretty easy going, but figured I would ask you all if I should go through the process of sending the fax, ect like Andre has outlined to get the room you really want.

The kids and wife and I are getting very excited, less than three weeks, okay 19 days, until we arrive. :)

I would, if there's something you want. My room always gets assigned before I arrive.

Ahh... So more natural light in the corner room. So no real issue if we don't get one.

Thanks for the information!
