Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

It's an easy walk between the two resorts.

I have stayed many times at both resorts. as I stated upthread, one time we even stayed 5 nights at POFQ and 5 nights at POR split stay....
the walk is NOT as easy for some people as for others. and, yes, there is the van in between resorts.. a few years back , when hubby could walk easier, we strolled over from FQ to dine at boatwrights. after dinner it was pouring, there was a van to take us back to FQ..
(just as there is a van to take people back and forth at AKL from Kidani to jambo house and back.)

but we enjoy the boat ride and the walk is not easy for us.. therefore, I would still like to know the answer to my original question:

andre (or anyone) : will we still be able to take a boat back and forth between the 2 sister resorts ? (POR and POFQ) or will we have to take the boat all the way to DTD in order to use the boat transportation between the sister resorts. this was one of the reasons we booked this resort. we love taking the boat back and forth between the 2 (another example. we love POR, but prefer the hot tub at FQ.. it is set apart from the main pool. so the little kids aren't jumping in and out of it all the time, turning it into a splash pool)

oh yeah! another reason.. we love the food courts at both resorts. and we love the close proximity of everything at FQ, but not crazy about the pool. there is just the kiddie slide, no tables with umbrellas by the pool and no quiet pool. and POr has yee hah bob.

w elove both resorts, and we LOVED that you could go from one to the other quite easily with the boat. this is why I am wondering if we will still be able to do this.

6th page, that's surprising, need to get it back on page 1

How come it's not going back to page 1 since there are new comments?

You're probably looking for it on the Resorts board. This thread has been moved to the Resorts Community Blah Blah etc board. So it won't go to the top of the Resorts board anymore.

As I understand it, and as per my earlier posts on the subject, the two resorts will share a boat service until 5pm, just as they did before, allowing you to transfer between POR and POFQ by boat. However after 5pm the boats from POR to DTD and back will be a separate service (running every 15 mins or so) to the POFQ service (which will be every 20 mins or so). I believe that the last couple of boats of the night may go back to dropping off at both resorts, to make it easier to get the last few guests home. There will be a shuttle bus service provided between the two resorts if you don't want to (or can't) walk.

Andre

2 more questions (and 2 more days yay!!) 1. Where do you catch the shuttle bus between the resorts? 2. The weathernetwork is saying thunder everyday, i know it will rain everyday but how has the weather been lately for anyone who is there now or just got back? Did it really rain all day?

thanks so much for the info!!!.....rats! we love going back and forth between the 2 on the boat. guess it's the boring old shuttle bus for us.( at least in the evening)

I remember that Yeehaw Bob was going to be out for health reasons, but I forget exactly when. Is he expected to be at POR in December. We sure do hope so! We LOVE him! Awesome show for all ages! When I asked our kids (9 and 15) what they wanted me to make sure I put in our Disney itineraries, both immediately said, "Yeehaw Bob!"

It's this week (11-20 August) that Bob will be away recuperating from his out-patient surgery. I wouldn't be surprised if that return date gets pushed back a little though, as his show is highly energetic and he needs to be fully fit and well before he returns.

Thanks, Andre! I hope he is feeling better soon (for his sake and ours ;-)! OAN, Andre, or anyone out there: Care to share your feelings about dinner at Boatwrights? Though we've stayed at POR several times, we have never eaten there. However, for the sake of convenience, we are looking to eat there one night. The menu looks yummy. I am not sure about the noise level in there? From what I read, it sounds like it can get noisy? Does it get that "loud, cafeteria noise" going (haha...hoping you understand what I mean :-)?

we have eaten there 3 times and have never found the noise level bad. and my husband wear hearing aids, so anyone with them knows how that can be in a restaurant. Ihad the prime rib twice. the first time was yummey. the last time I thought it was kinda dry, not so juicy, but I ordered it medium.. maybe the expeditor (who just dropped it off without a word).waited too long to take it out? we will eat there again in sept. and if I orde trthe prime rib I think I'll ask for it MR. the jambalaya is good, as is the ribs.
we like to do a splity stay with the dining plan.. one resort dining plan, with tickets for the entire trip, 2nd resort, room only reservation. so we will be at Musice with the "free" dining first (upgraded to the regular DDP) then on the 2nd leg of the trip, since the DDP credits are good untilo midnight, we love the conveience of eating ourlast TS meal at the new resort on check in night.

Glad to hear it isn't as noisy as I thought based on what I read! Thanks for your response!

Andre and friends....What is the best way to return to POR from Yacht Club? (Bear in mind that we will be there December 20th...and looking to leave after Illuminations...We booked one of the private charters for the Illuminations viewing out of Yacht Club and need to know how to return to POR when it is over). Thanks again!

You can take a cab from the YC or you can take the Friendship boat to DHS if they are still running. From there you can get the park bus to POR. :)

Thanks! How do I arrange the cab? Do you have any idea what cost would be for the 4 of us?

Just go out of the main entrance doors of the Beach Club and there will either be one waiting there, or the cast members can get one for you. Cost should be around $10-$15.

Hi, I have a room request question.

From my understAnding We should do online checkin first. Right now we only have via DIS ressies a request for connecting rooms. Ground, second, corner is not important. Corner for one room would be nice, but not if it messes up our more important requests connecting AND Magnolia blg. 85.

Our goal is a room near the bridge to the main pool. We have two garden views booked.
What is the best way to request this? Issue is my mom with walking far distances.

Worst would be a bayou room. But I hope families of 5 book these up ??? Is that usually the cause?

We check in Sept 2nd. So first I do online ( best just leave connecting and no corner, right) and then fax / call for blg 85?? And when, date wise.

Thanks!

What you've written above sounds fine to me, so your fax wording could be something like:

"Please could we have Magnolia Terrace (building 85) connecting rooms, fairly close to the footbridge to the Ol' Man Island pool if possible as one member of our family has difficulty with walking longer distances. If one of the rooms could be a corner room too, that would be great."

Thanks, Andre! Just to clarify...We will be at the Yacht Club at the end of our night. Can we get the cab from the Yacht Club, or do we need to walk over to the Beach Club? When you say one will be waiting there, or do you mean they are always just sitting there waiting to take ppl, or do I need to arrange it? Thanks so much for all your help! I really appreciate it!
