Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

Need advice on room request. I've stayed at POR before but always in AB, because we had a party of 5. this time it's just two adults, but we MUST HAVE two beds (it's my mom coming with me and she snores terribly.) I booked a garden view, because it's all that was available. I also need to be as far from the designated smoking areas as possible. Any thoughts on where to look for a room request? TIA!
My fav request is Acadian House or Magnolia Terrace close to foot bridge.

Just an FYI for any Off Kilter fans who don't know-Jason and Billy from OK play regularly at Scat Cat's at The Quarter.:)

Walking down from POR to hear them is EXTRA Magical!:)

They've got a few more dates coming up this month for anyone interested(including one with Jason and Greg).

We've been going to see them since they started at The Quarter and EVERY show is awesome-GREAT guys!:)

Jason & Billy at Scat Cat’s: March 25, 26 & 28. Jason will be playing with Greg Hayworth on March 27

Ahhh, just back from our stay at POR March 11-18th. It was amazing, as you could guess. We were in AB 3417 - a five minute stroll to the main buildings and a 30 second walk to the West Depot (what a blessing that way after long park days!)

Does anyone know what time Riverside Mill Food Court opens for breakfast in the morning? It officially says the bakery/grab and go opens at 6 but the rest opens at 7. We were wondering if it was a possibility for it to open at 6 or 6:30 for cooked meals.

Hi. We're hoping for a stay at POR later this year, and I have a question about the Murphy beds. My daughter absolutely loved the one at CBR, but since not every room has them, are there any tips for how a family of three might score one of these rooms? Fax a request? Do the $20 trick? Ask very politely?

Thanks so much!

That is correct, bakery and grab'n'go open at 6am, hot food starts at 7am.

If you want to guarantee it, just book a Preferred Location room as all of those are in the Alligator Bayou section (so they have the fold-down beds). Otherwise put in a request and follow it up with a fax 3-5 days before you arrive. To be honest though, with such a general request I would not expect them to block a room out in advance but rather leave it to the room assignment team on the day.

Awesome. Thanks so much. I have one more question: what's the deal with parking? If we end up going, my in-laws in Miami are thinking about driving up to visit us for the day and would want to check out the hotel. Would they be able to park at the hotel?

If you go to touringplans.com's room finder, you can plug in what type of room you're looking for with the Murphy bed option. They seem to have a good number of rooms with Murphys in a variety of room types. You can look at the views from each room as well and fax in requests to the resort. I haven't tried faxing in a request yet myself, but I hear folks have good luck with it. It will at least give you an idea of what's available.

Hope this helps!

Yes, they just need to say they're there to visit with you, and provide your room number if asked.

I think they just have to tell the guard at the gate who they're visiting and they should be let in. Give your in-laws your room number to give to the guard. They should be able to park there, given what I've heard about others doing just this.

That's really not necessary because the Murphy beds are exclusively in Alligator Bayou and all AB rooms have them.

I will just reiterate that there are a few scattered handicapped rooms there that do not have the murphy bed. If they don't need to save the handicapped rooms, they will give them out to those who booked preferred or requested AB and have less than 5 people. So, I would double check at check in especially if it is a busy booked solid time of year. I know because it happened to us and we did not care since didn't care about the Murphy Bed.
Hint: If they say just minute, and go in the back before they give you your room, it could be a clue

I am so excited to be staying here for the first time this July. I will be staying in a Royal Room. What are the bus stops like at this resort? Thanks!

Also, is this still the type of coffee maker?
coffee maker (new Cuisinart dual-cup type, supplied with free Joffrey's coffee pods)
