Thank you, this is becoming a mystery! We’ll be at Pop in 2 weeks. I’ll be sure to report back on this floor situation if we get a refurbished room!

we’ll be there in 4 weeks and will do the same. I wonder if the time of year makes a difference?Thank you, this is becoming a mystery!
I was on the third floor. Guess I was lucky.I don't understand why so many people in here say the floors are an issue. Yet, you had no problems. Were you on an upper floor?

I doubt it’s luck. The people reporting this issue on this thread are a tiny fraction of the amount of guests who stay at Pop on a weekly basis.
I am very curious to see about it myself, though.
Nervous about staying at a value resort? It's not like they are slums or tent cities
This will be our first stay at a value and I’m so excited! We are taking our niece and the atmosphere at pop looks so much more fun plus we can walk over to AoA. I’m going at the end of February and am planning on requesting the 70s with highest floor. There isn’t a pool right there and they have lake view rooms so it should be fairly quiet. The only thing might be gondola construction.Hi Everyone! I'll be staying at POP for the first time in April. I'm a little nervous as I've never stayed at a Value Resort before. But the price difference can't be beat and if I want to have my Disney trip this year I'll have to go outside the norm! Been reading through this thread and there's so much great information! Just curious if there is a certain section to request, we are in a standard room. Don't mind if its an upgraded room or not, would just like a somewhat quiet location thats fairly centrally located?? If anyone has any specific tips or pointers, would love to hear them. I'm excited and nervous about our upcoming trip! Thanks!!!
Nervous about staying at a value resort? It's not like they are slums or tent cities, they just don't have some of the amenities of the higher priced resorts. Set your expectations accordingly, know that it won't be the beach club, poly, or port Orleans, and you'll be fine. You're at Disney World!!!!!
That being said, all of the closer/centrally located rooms are preferred. Pool view rooms tend to be louder, lthough in the colder months that may not be an issue. The first or second post of the thread below has a map of the resort with buildings, so you can see what their location is relative to the main building (lobby, food court, bus pick up)....

Are your kids into decade themes? The 60's are pretty wonky. I love the 50's for both theme and proximity. Both 60's and 50's are right off the front so lite walking at the end of the night. The refurbs are in the 90's and 80's. Someone correct me if I am wrong but they only have a king bed and a pull down.I've stayed at Pop Century a few years ago when it was just me and a friend so we didn't care what room/area we were in. Is there a certain area anyone would recommend for an 8-year-old (girl) and a 6-year-old (boy), though? I didn't know anything about refurbishments until I saw stumbled across this forum this morning so that's another factor. I really want to give them the best time ever so I'm not sure if there's anything in particular I should request for our stay.
Thanks!
Text isn't the best method of conveying tone. I hardly find his/her response to be rude. Sorry on his/her behalf that it wasn't littered with sprinkles and glitter.Sorry, wasn't trying to seem snobby, but having been former DVC owners, you can imagine that it might seem a bit different for us going from staying at a DVC resort to a Value. That's all I was saying. I don't have outrageous expectations and I know that any resort at Disney is awesome. So much for this being a "friendly" thread where I could get helpful info and tips. Thanks anyway...

So if we'd rather have the 2 queens, stick with the old rooms? Do I need to try to request that or think that'll be the default?
Well that’s good to know about the construction! I’m hoping for a top floor room in the 70s facing the lake. That’s true about the AoA bus too! Thanks!Text isn't the best method of conveying tone. Pop is a great resort for the money. It's stark contrast from a DVC rental but it's not Motel 6.
I was just there last month and the gondola construction wasn't intrusive in the slightest. Also, if your pop bus line is full, you can take the AoA one if it's lesser and walk from there. Nice little perk. cheers
The older non refurbished rooms have double beds. The refurbished rooms have 2 queen beds. One of them is a pull down Murphy bed.So if we'd rather have the 2 queens, stick with the old rooms? Do I need to try to request that or think that'll be the default?
Local here!Just curious as there is so much discussion about the fine layer of dirt on the floors. Are there any Orlando locals on this tread? Is it something that is common in the area or is it what people are tracking in on their feet or improper materials being used for cleaning?
We live in Canada and almost everyone takes off their outdoor footwear at the door (winter and summer) to save tracking things indoors but it sounds like not even that will help in the new rooms.
