Received e mail today that there are going to be refurbishments during my stay. Most work will be between 10 and 4. Might not be able to request certain building if it is currently being refurbbed.

I got the email this week. I'm at POP 2/4-2/11. I booked Preferred and requested '70s, so we'll see how I do.

I just booked a BB to Pop for next September. I requested top floor and close transportation, but may change the requests based on any construction updates. I would LOVE to stay in a room with the Murphy bed. Just wrapping up a great trip at Pop. My location was perfect - I was on the backside of 60's facing the lake, so very central for Pop and for visiting AoA (booked standard). No issues with transportation and really appreciated the bus boards. If I weren't coming back for the marathon I would be very sorry to leave.

Thinking about doing a quick budget trip here in May of 2018, for me, hubby and one of our daughters. I think the room size would be ok for three of us.

I see that my TA has deals here for May 2017 on standard rooms, so maybe in May 2018 they might as well. Only request would probably be for a ground floor. Any advice on location?

What type of rate was the BB? Might do the same when I am at the AKL in February.

The current BB is 30% off deluxe, 25% off moderate and 20% off values, with some exclusions (like no LM at AoA for example). I checked rack rate before I called and rack was $1707.79, including tax. My total with the discount was $1297.91 with tax, which actually worked out to a 24% discount. I booked 11 nights in a standard view.

I did not have any booklet or brochure in the room. I just called the 8844 extension and asked about the future stay offer. I also booked a BB for May at POFQ at the same time.

So you got a 24% discount at Pop?

That's how the math worked out. I still had the rack rate quote saved in my cart, so I checked it before I posted the numbers to be sure. But I have often found that when they quote a round number for a discount (whether 30%, 25%, 20%, etc.) when I physically do the math the discount comes out a little better than what I expect. For example, I've had 30% discounts come out at 33-34% many times. Since I'm comparing apples to apples (total with tax included, room only, no tickets, dining plan, etc.) it should be correct. I've never had a discount come out to less than what I expected. One thing that may help me a little is that I check in on a Tuesday and out on a Saturday morning, so I only have one weekend during my trip. If the rates are higher on weekend nights (or conversely, if the discount is less on weekend nights) then it doesn't affect me as much as it might someone who is checking in on a Friday and leaves a week later on Sunday or Monday, where they have two weekends involved. I kind of ran into that issue for Marathon week. I have four nights booked, two at a really great discount and two at a very minor discount. The average over the four nights is a decent discount, but if I were only staying the first two nights I would have had an EXCELLENT discount.

What I usually do is look up the rack rate and deduct the advertised percentage prior to making the call. So long as the total they give me is equal or less than what I have calculated, I book it. You could even do the calculations prior to your trip (and maybe do them for a second and third choice of resort, in case there are availability issues) so you would have all your ducks in a row before the call.

I also got the email. I hope the renovation work is only to guest rooms. This is a visit with extended family and the last time we were at WDW we stayed at POFQ and the lobby was being completely renovated.

QUESTION: Can you access the bus transportation from the 90's parking lot or do you have to walk through Classic Hall to get to the transportation? We have a standard room and I was thinking it would be very easy to stay in the 80's bldg and just walk over to buses. As long as you don't have to walk around through the building to get there. Thanks!!

You can access the bus stops from the 90's parking lot -- you don't have to go through the building. When we stayed in Building 9 of the 80's section we found it to be a very quick walk to the bus stops by either walking along the sidewalk around the parking lot or simply walking through it (it was a very quiet parking lot -- very little traffic).

Yes-very convenient access without going all the way through Classic Hall.:)

I too received an email for our stay March 26 - April 6. My email advises the following:

"While we are working our magic, it is possible you will see or hear work in progress around the Resort and requests for specific buildings may not be possible to accommodate. Though some disruption may be unavoidable, depending on your location, we are making an effort to minimize the impact on your experience. As a result, noise should not be heard from your Guest room until after 9:00am daily."

Any idea when the refurbishment will begin? I didn't think it was that long ago that the rooms at Pop were redone?
