Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

In just 2 short weeks I'll be at POP. Anybody else that's stayed in July . . . is it crazy crowded at POP? And are there lots of tour groups? I read some things on another thread that started to make me nervous, not that I'm going to change my plans now. Just looking for what to expect.
Disney in general in July is crowded. I stayed at Pop in April of this year, and there were throngs of cheerleaders at the resort. It made it feel like summer time.
It really didn't hamper the stay. A little more time is going to be needed to get through the food court lines, but other than that it is fine.

Hello All! I just switched from the CBR to POP for our surprise Christmas vacation! (We got an extra night for the same price we were paying at CBR)...I have a preferred room booked, but was wondering if I could request a lake view at check in? Are there preferred lake view rooms? I don't want to pay a preferred price, then end up with a "standard" room. TIA!

Only standard rooms are Lakeview. Could you switch to standard?

Hi all 69 days for us! I was pleasantly reminded this morning while looking at MDE that I can do online check-in next week. We have 3 rooms total and hope for 2 connecting and the other nearby. Should that be my only request? I'd like the 70's section too.

Finally since all three reservations are connected will I be able to do check in for all three rooms - or will my parents and in-laws have to do it themselves?

7 days until we are home again at POP. My nieces love this resort. It can be crowded in July, but not unbearable IMHO. We try to get to the food court early in the morning so we can eat and make rope drop at the parks. On the occasion that we have slept in, the food court always seems busy.

The pizza here is real good and a nice value on the QS dining plan as a family of four can get a large pizza for just 2 credits. We also like the ice cream options. We miss the frozen coke machines; they were hard to keep frozen in July with the amount of people using them.

Yes the ice cream options are awesome! Really missed that last year when we stayed at AllStar Sports. We didn't like the gelato. (And we normally do like gelato at home, but they had bad flavors).

You make a great point about the pizza being a good value on the QS plan. For 2 credits you get the large pizza, 2 desserts, and two drinks. If you also use your refillable mugs, you could exchange those drinks out for sides or extra desserts.

I must not have scrolled back far enough, does anyone know where the info about the refurb was posted?

If I don't request a king, is it a safe bet that I will get two doubles? I ask because I want two doubles, but since the room is reserved for one guest I don't know if that impacts what kind of room they will put me in. When I asked over the phone, the CM said my reservation includes two doubles so there was no need to request it. Wondering if I should have insisted he make a note.

I dint believe you need to call ahead to make a request for 2 doubles as those are the norm. I've stayed at pop ove 20 times and only once got a king room and that's when it was 1 adult with a baby in a pack n play.

If it's something that's really important to you, I would call back and ask them to add a note to your reservation. There's always a chance, depending on occupancy rates at the resort, that they will put you in a King room. Friends of ours just ran into a problem with that. They've made 3 trips to Pop Century in the last few years, always requesting a King (they are a couple with no kids). They've never gotten that request. They were there a few weeks ago and didn't request a King room this time because the husband's brother and family were traveling with them. Before arriving, they had offered to keep their nephews in their room one night so that the brother and his wife could have a night to themselves -- a late dinner and a late night at MK. Well, when they checked in at Pop they were given a King room. Go figure. It all worked out fine -- it was raining the night the brother and his wife were planning to stay out late so they ended up only going to dinner and then coming back to the room and picking up the boys before 10:00 anyway.

Does anyone know if they have implemented the signs yet that display the bus arrival times at Pop?
