Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Thank you! Does anyone know what room type at Pop is included? We normally do the preferred pool view

We were able to book FD last year for 4 standard rooms for December. It seemed like for our dates all room types were available, but it may depend on when you are going. I have been looking at summer discount rates in July and for one weekend they have them for standard but not preferred and the next weekend I found the summer discount for preferred but not standard. I think it just depends on what they have in their inventory. Best of luck in booking yours!

We got rid of our preferred and went to standard room and asked for a King in the 50,60,70s buildings. We really don't want to be in the 80s or 90s
We always stay standard (not king room) but we have always loved our location in the 60's or 70's, close to everything we think. We also would not want the 80s, 90's too far. We don't do 50s because of the smoking area locations and my asthma. I'm really sensitive, but it probably would not bother most people.

Are standard king rooms usually offered with free dining? My wife and I are thinking of booking October 1st to the 6th and will be bringing our 8 month old son who would probably sleep with us or in a pack and play so no need for 2 beds. Just curious if we would qualify for the potential free dining.

Thanks in advance guys!

Last night, we decided to change up our two week vacation a bit and are now doing a split stay. We'll have six nights at Pop Century and eight nights at Caribbean Beach. This is the first time that we've ever stayed in a value resort and I'm a bit nervous. My husband has epilepsy and needs a nice quiet place to sit and relax at the end of the day. I am able to do online check-in but am unsure what to request. Any suggestions?

I'd request the 70s building. It doesn't have a pool so should be quieter especially if you ask for a lake view

In a post comparing WDW resort room sizes, the Disney Tourist Blog is reporting that Disney is testing brand new room layouts at Pop Century. His quote:

"Disney is currently testing new rooms at Pop Century Resort (it’s a fantastic looking retro-modern style!) and while these rooms are not any larger than the rooms at other Value Resorts, they utilize space much better."

I can't tell if the room tests are being used with guests or not. He can't provide any photos at this time.

Oh no! We are booked there in November! Should we switch to Caribbean? We've been discussing making the switch anyway

Oh no upload_2016-4-1_11-26-50.pngwe want to stay there over CBR as I'm not sure about the buses there...we haven't stayed ay POP since 2006...has it changed that much?

There are so many cuts on staffing and “cutting corners” going on at WDW right now. One of these cuts is housekeeping staff. So, switching resorts won’t necessarily alleviate your issues with a less than perfect room. Less housekeeping staff at Pop…and at every other resort. The dirtiest room we have ever had was at CSR.

Honestly, when my kids were little – 80’s and 90’s were the best places to be at Pop. Quieter, quieter pool, easier access to busses, etc. It was nice to get off the bus and bypass Classic Hall entirely (no whining about wanting food or arcade, etc.). It was just a nice quiet walk over to our room. I would gladly stay in either of these again..

If your child is over 3, I don’t think King is an option at all. Just a heads up.

Enjoy the planning and your trip :O)

We brought our own coffee maker. I packed one of those recyclable large TJ Maxx bags with the coffee maker, filters, coffee, two mugs and the little plastic creamer pods. We like to have coffee as we are getting ready in the morning and for us, this worked out very well. They sell coffee by the cup at the food court, since we drive we just prefer to bring our own. Oh, my husband made fun of me bringing it all along, but of course he was happy that first morning to wake up and smell the coffee!

Yes, I think we'll do the same! :)

The rooms are small, no matter how the space is managed. 260 square feet with two full sized beds and someplace to store your clothes - no room left. Design all you want - there is no space.

Saw this on Orbitz.com. Not sure any of these rooms are actually created but 'pictures' do show new furniture.

It will be interesting to see if they put similar furniture at Pop.

Weren't there some reports on here a while back that some people had different flooring in their rooms? Like not carpet?

I may be wrong, but weren't those posts regarding the removal of the carpet in the food court area?
