I may go there later or tomorrow. I’ll try to go to Tuvalu or Fiji stairs and see if I can see anything better.looks like they put some trees and blue skies up for those first floor view rooms... how can Disney charge full price for these rooms?!
This might help:Hello. I just rented points to stay in a standard Poly studio next October. It will be our first time at the Poly. I’m so excited and this thread has been so helpful already, though I am far from reading the whole thing yet.
I do have a question about the boats. Do they only go to MK or can you get a boat to other resorts, like Wilderness Lodge or Fort Wilderness, or is there a transfer involved? Thanks for any info!
There is a small boat that runs between MK, GF and the Poly. For FW or WL, you will have to catch a boat from MK. There is a boat that runs from between the CR, WL and FW but I don’t think it is currently running.Hello. I just rented points to stay in a standard Poly studio next October. Our kids are huge animal fans. So if there was Savanna view available we would definitely switch despite having to lift a double stroller on and off buses (and their bus service is lacking; post pandemic we’ve waited 40 mins for a bus). The atmosphere at the AKL is so relaxed and laid back and so much to do. The animals run around the savanna with a little bit of rain. We did get a really bad savanna view with just a strip of grass facing the parking lot (these should not be labeled ‘savanna’ no animals to view other than a few birds at a distance) at the end of the resort which we called and changed (no availability so had to shift the next day). We’ve had mediocre food at Sanna (loved it when they had Bison masala and chai cream dessert (dessert trio) but still love their bread service. We always book Boma. Now that resort guests get priority for ADRs, booking Boma can be challenging. We’re doing whatever we can to avoid Ohana (very bad experience last year and inedible rock solid meat)I'm questioning the same as deannaf87 - we have a standard room booked at the Poly in March 2023 and I would be pissed if this was my view at $800 per night. I just checked and Animal Kingdom Lodge is $2,000 less for my time frame in a standard room. Would any of you switch to AKL?
I picked the Poly for the location and food options. That still remains. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.Well, there are a lot of Standard View rooms away from construction, but also a lot facing construction too, so it’s a gamble. If you are the kind to roll with things and don’t mind construction, then no issues IMO. If that concerns you, then other booking categories or resorts seems the way to go.
That said, Poly and AKL are like apples and oranges experiences. While I enjoy aspects of both, I’d personally pick Poly. The location and amenity benefits are worth the cost, even with some construction, in my humble opinion. Not everyone is going to feel that way though.
Thanks for sharing. Sanaa is on our ADR list. I’ll look into Boma now too.Our kids are huge animal fans. You can order WDW in park merch from ‘your WDW store’. I’ve used them for a Navi backpack and magic band sliders. Shipping is high but they are very reliable.Anyone staying at the Poly soon that would be able to help a mom out?
Background: my girls love pins and we get one from every resort we stay at. We were at the Poly for two nights this month but the hurricane messed things up. We planned one lovely resort day, one crazy park day, and an early flight out. Instead, we didn't arrive for our resort "day" until 9pm, exhausted and hungry. In lieu of hanging at the pool, we scarfed some quick serve and crashed (boooo, Nicole!!). We then did the parks all day the next day and only realized as we were walking out of MK at 11:30pm that we hadn't gone to the Poly gift shop. It was closed by that point and wouldn't open before we had to leave at 6:45am for our flight home. As such, we didn't get a Polynesian resort pin, nor are they available on ShopDisney.
If someone would be able to pick me up a Poly pin, I'd be happy to pay you for the pin and send you a USPS label so all you had to do was put it in your mailbox for your mail carrier to pick up. Feel free to PM me if you can help.
