Disney's policy about returning points due to this virus?

I received that email from Marriott Rewards, which is a hotel stay loyalty program, not timeshare points.
Thanks for the clarification.
My Father in Law has Marriott "Timeshares" at Orlando and Hilton Head, and we often stay at those resorts under that program. I was not sure if the line I quoted from the email related to those timeshares or not, which is why I thought I might have takin it out of context.
ETA: I edited it my post to say that I may be taking it out of context rather than I hope I did not take it out of context.

How do I book at the start of my use year? Say I want to travel 4th of July, but I'm out of points and I get fresh points on June 1st?

Please stop blaming members for something that is not their fault!

I gave Davids points to rent with 7 months. He rented them right away, but with 2 weeks left on the use year? You would think he would have rented them out ASAP so everyone was paid, happy and done!

When you book has absolutely nothing to do with UY. You have all your points now. All that changes is which points you use, Any trip can be booked 11 months ahead.

So, a July 4th trip can be booked in August, 11 months from the start. That trip is still at the beginning of June UY.

With David’s, he offers owners a chance to book. Doesn’t matter when he asks, it’s when the travel happens.

So, even though you offered your points with 7 months left, the trip was toward the end of the UY, and that is what makes it more risky then if you book a July trip, with a June UY.

Please reread my post. I was trying to make a point that not all members can book at the start of the use year.

1. no points available.

2. nothing available last minute.

Also as far as Davids. Everyone here seems to think he rents 100k point a month. So again it would be to his advantage to rent them asap, not 7 months later!

My point was that you don’t get points at the start of the UY. They are there before that date. They just changed status on that date.

If you want to book July 4th, 2021, you don’t need to wait until June 1st, 2021 to book, you can book in August 2020 using your June 2021 points, and even borrow June 2022 points for that trip.

Nothing prevents any owner to book at the beginning of their UY if they know they want to travel, There is no waiting for points to start.

If an owner has no points for a stay at the beginning of the UY, they won’t have points for travel anytime in that UY

For example, I offered my Aug 2021 UY points in February for reservstions for Aug 2020 forward. I didnt have to wait until Aug 1s to borrow for that reservation

I just went on to the system to see when my banking deadline is. When looking at the rules it said they have the right to suspend banking if needed. Wanna bet that is what is doing to happen with so many people cancelling and banking?

IMO, they are more likely to suspend borrowing from 2021 into 2020 to absorb some of the excess points chasing reduced 2020 availability.

Your right I don't get points on June 1st?

Must be a mistake by DVC all these years!

The points are already there and you don't have to wait until June to book with them. You stated that you couldn't travel in July because you don't get your points until June and there's no availability on short notice. You could book that July trip 11 months out, you don't have to wait until June to book it.

If you have a June UY, your points can be used for stays from June 1st through May 31st of that UY, regardless of when you book that stay (up to 11 months prior for home resort, 7 months elsewhere). The points are already "in your account." You just can't use them for a stay where the dates fall outside their UY (unless you borrow from or bank to the next UY).

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your question?

You can not book a stay without points! Not hard to understand! That is why DVC will sell you a few extra points if needed!

So you have used all your June 2020 and June 2021 points already? Otherwise, you could have booked that July 4, 2020 trip on August 4, 2019 using your June 2020 points because a July 2020 trip falls in your June 2020 UY.

Your points are there until the expiration of your resort. You can only use, borrow next year or bank last year at this point in time.

I am really afraid of this happening. So I went ahead and banked all of my Dec 2019 points that were left. I have an Oct trip booked that we have until July 31st to decide if we want to cancel and bank the points or keep. If we keep and then it's canceled we'd have to put those points into RCI. (Which unlike so many others I don't consider to be the end of the world - we'll just find SOMEWHERE else to go for a change!) I have been debating about booking a late Feb / early Mar 2021 trip in case we cancel the Oct trip But then THOSE points could be screwed if this crap is still a problem into 2021 (which I think is a very real possibility).

We are booked mid may with points expiring at the end of August. Thankfully it’s not a ton (just three nights in a studio at ssr) but we are wondering if it’s better to wait for Disney to cancel or us to cancel? We are looking at moving trip to late July.

if you are going to move it anyway, I would not wait for Disney. There is no benefit for them canceling,

Since you are a Sept UY, you are approaching your banking window. If you do have points you want to bank, you would want to be sure to do it for that.

These are points that were banked last year. Wasn't sure if they'd go into a weird holding.

Awesome, we will go ahead and cancel and then rebook. First time we've had to cancel a trip so we are a bit of newbies even tho we've owned since 2008!

Was looking forward to this years trips. I finally got my blue membership card along with my sister, and we were going to purchase AP's

I have an April use year. If I go into my account online under My Vacation Points, I see April 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023. They go out 3 years when they deposit because cruises can be booked 2 years in advance. You never have a situation where you have to wait for a points deposit to book (except when you first buy resale and they have to load the points).

In May 2020, I could book an April 2021 stay and borrow 2022.
