I am wondering if anyone who has a child with a peanut allergy has attempted to do the Disney's Pirate Adventure at the Grand Floridian???
It read that they serve peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Is this still the case? Any input you could give me would be greatly appreciated!

I have been in contact with a cast member at WDW in regards to food allergies. I decided to ask him about the Pirate Cruise at the Grand Floridian.
Here is the info. that he gave me:
"As of December 1, 2009, all children’s Pirate Cruises at Walt Disney World, no longer serve peanut butter and jelly. They now offer a snack options such as goldfish crackers, pretzels and juice."

I have an email out to see what kind of pretzels are served and will update again when I hear back.

Hi, I did call about this last year and was told that no substitutions could be made but that I was welcomed to pack a lunch. My son was ( I say "was" because he has since out grown his allergy)not so severe that he could not be around PB at all, but since the price was the same even if I packed the lunch, I decided not to do it.

I belive they still serve them. If your child can not be in contact with them or if a child with sticky PB & J fingers touching your child after the meal could cause a problem then I would avoid it. If your child just can not consume it then you might want to call and see if packing a lunch is still an option.

I looked at this for my DS when we went last. I emailed Disney about the PB&J sandwich and as the PP mentioned, they would not substitute.
I decided not to take the risk as the thought of every child on the boat sitting down together munching on the sandwich, :scared1: there was bound to be leftovers on fingers and touching everything, so for us, we avoided it. Really sad as I know my son would have loved it. But for us we just were not comfortable, but thats just our personal preference and our comfort level.

Thank you all very much for your responses. I am thinking this is not worth the risk, which is too bad because it sounds like a lot of fun.

I'm really surprised given the high liability risk that PB allergies would cause for Disney that they wouldn't just switch to sunbutter. Seems to me that it would be an easy enough transition.

Thanks for the update. This will be great news if they have eliminated the PB&Js!

This is SUCH wonderful news. Mind you I think it's a little late for my son now as he will be 11 on our next trip and it possibly a bit old for it now an has never done the cruise because of the PB&J, but I am thrilled for all of the other PA allergic children who will now be able to enjoy this when previously they would have had to miss it. :wizard:
