I need help deciding whether to book the repositioning cruise from San Diego to Vancouver? Is a cruise on the Pacific typically a "choppy" ride ? Can you see the coast while sailing or is the boat too far off coast to see land? Would love someone's opinion on the Wonder and if this is a good cruise or not? We love Disney's cruises but have only done the ships leaving from Port C. Thanks for your help.

We loved this cruise when we went in 2014. No, you couldn't see the coast much at all - we sailed too far out. I loved the stop in San Francisco, but from that point going north it was typical pacific northwest weather - fog, rain, drizzle, gray skies. However, I would do it again in a heartbeat. It was a bit less expensive than the Caribbean, and I love sea days. It was great to spend the day in San Fran, as it was only my second visit ever there. We spent much of the day at the Walt Disney Family museum, which never could get old for me. Great shopping and dining along the waterfront in San Francisco. It was record heat when we boarded in San Diego, so it was such a relief to get out on the cooler waters. I am originally from the Pacific Northwest, so the gray skies and drizzle didn't bother me. There was lots and lots to do onboard the ship, but I must confess that I missed sitting out on the verandah once we hit Oregon/Washington. It was a cool experience to sail underneath the Golden Gate bridge. There is a full trip report in my signature where you can read all about it. Just skip the first two pages which is pre-trip and Disneyland if you're not interested in that part. Hope it helps you make a decision. We probably will always prefer the warmth of the Caribbean, but it really was an awesome cruise - and the Wonder is still a beautiful ship.

We did this cruise in 2013, and we really enjoyed it. We had an overnight stay in San Francisco. It was a chilly cruise. I only brought sandals and had to buy a pair of crocs and socks to survive. LOL I am from South Florida so I have thin blood.
I take Bonine on every cruise at bedtime, so the choppy waters never bother me.
But it was so much fun, I would definitely do it again.

Thank you so much DisneyGirl from Wyoming! We visited Wyoming last summer (instead of our usual Disney trip) and we loved Wyoming - the Tetons were amazing. Thank you for your Disney cruise report. Would you say that the seas were very choppy? I am going to read your trip report from 2014 when I have a few minutes to sit down and focus a bit. Thanks again, Leah

I am so glad you enjoyed your trip to the Tetons. There is such amazing scenery over there. My son is currently in Jackson this week for "Teton Science School" with the rest of his junior high class, and they have been posting some amazing photos of animals and scenery. I hope you met some wonderful and friendly Wyomingites while there. We live on the other side of the state - Cheyenne - so we're much closer to Colorado and Nebraska over here - but there is nothing like Wyoming hospitality, for sure - no matter where in the state you travel.

In answer to your question, yes, the seas were pretty choppy once we sailed north from California. We were sailing in a 1-bedroom suite with all the beautiful wood, and it CREAKED so loudly the last couple of nights. The motion didn't bother us whatsoever, as none of us are prone to seasickness, but I sure wished at the time that I'd packed ear plugs! It woke me up several times. It was really kind of cool on the last sea day when it was raining pretty badly and the ship was rocking. I'd gone to the spa to spend some heavenly alone time on the heated loungers and then went outside to the hot tubs, and the water from the pool was sloshing all over the deck. You don't see that when you sail the Caribbean! But it was cozy to sink down in the hot tub and watch the rain and the crew members walking around with jackets held over their heads. I was the only one out there in the rain, but I was so happy.... just to be on a Disney cruise!
