I requested a quote for 1 room and put in my top 3 choices as:

1. WL
2. AKL
3. Boardwalk Inn

The next day I received an email confirming my reservation for the Boardwalk Villas (2 bedroom) with a price and a date on which my deposit is due to avoid cancellation. UPDATE***Since then, I also received travel documents via snail mail, confirming my reservation, and asking that I submit my deposit before my reservation is cancelled.

As BW Villas werent even 1 of my top 3 and I certainly dont need a 2 bedroom, I just wont send the money and let the ressie cancel in 14 days, but wouldnt it make more sense for Disney to send a quote back and ask if you want them to reserve it, rather than just reserve it?

So now, they have taken a 2 bedroom out of their inventory (someone else may be trying to book and getting no availability). Seems a little backwards to me.

Under normal circumstances, yes. BUT, since its the WDW reservation system, nothing can phase me after all the horror stories and bad experiences people have had with it. I NEVER trust that piece of junk. I'd rather call CRO and have them assist me with confirming all of my choices/options.

If there was not a reservation number associated with the email, then nothing was booked.

If so, then that is unusual for the site to do that,

There was a reservation # assigned.

I had a similar experience a few months ago, this time with CRO. I was on the phone asking about code availability for AKL. I had requested pool and she said there was only standard available....as I was about to say no thank you, my cell died. I didnt worry much about it, as I didnt want the room anyways, but later that evening, I received a confirmation email from Disney, stating that my ressie was confirmed and I had 14 days to mail them the deposit. Just seems strange that they would book a room type or a resort other than the one requested, without confirmation from the customer. Not only that, it takes those rooms out of the inventory, for those who might have really wanted it.

I've tried to use the online system before and can't ever seem to get the information that I want. I have given up and just call. (most of the time this seems to work out well)
