Just and FYI though..if your airline doesn't participate it isn't quite as convenient for the return trip. They will take your luggage on the bus with you, but then you have to get it from where you are let out to your check in gate. Not terrible, just not as convenient and something to be aware of.:thumbsup2

We have a trip planned for May and invited a friend to come down. She will be using ME. I called MS and set it all up. They are suppose to send me the packet with the luggage tags and we will send on to our friend.

It's been several weeks since we called. Does anybody know how long it is before they send out the tags?

TIA.

Hi - usually they mail it out about 2 weeks prior to your trip - they say if you don't get it (i think) 10 days prior to call them - then they will express mail it to you - we've never had a problem though

We are going in May too, no tags etc yet.

We got ours about 4 days after filling out the form on the members website.

I do have a question though as this is our first time using it. Do they get your luggage for you from the luggage pick-up? Or do you get it and take it to the Magical Express area?

Hi just a warning
I booked my trip 7 months in advance and didn't recieve the tags,,called ME and was told they would fed ex them ,,which they didn't ,,back home now and they still haven't arrrived. Anyhow when I got into Orlando I was told not to worrry Disney reps would pick up the luggage which they did but I didn"t get my luggage till they next day. It was the one thing that kind of started my vacation off on the wrong foot,,,but I'm hoping Disney improves the system as time goes by. I'll always travel with an extra toothbrush from now on.
hugs Mel

As long as you have the yellow Disney tags on them they are automatically picked up by Disney and transfered to the Magical Express bus. --then to your resort.
Well that's they way it suppose to happen anyway.;)

When you use the yellow DME luggage tags -- with any airline -- your bags don't go to baggage claim at the airport. Instead, your bags are are routed to Disney "behind the scenes" (just as connecting bags are sent to the next flight rather than going to baggage claim at a connecting airport).

Your bags are delivered to your Disney resort by truck (not on a DME motorcoach). At your resort, your bags are delivered to your room some time after you check in. Because Disney pays the inbound tip, it is not necessary for you to be in your room when your bags are delivered. It can take a few hours because there are several sorting steps, and because bell services can get backed up. (Keep in mind that you could be boarding a DME motorcoach before the baggage handlers have even finished unloading your bags from your aircraft.)

As always, you should bring a carry-on. Pack valuables, fragile items, medicines, and anything you'll need the first few hours. You might want to pack enough for the first 12 hours, in case you and your bags don't arrive on the same flight (it happens too often with the airlines).
