DME has been around over 10 months, about 45 weeks, about 315 days. I think I read it averages about 6,000 users a day. 6,000 times 315 equals 1.89 MILLION people who've used it. ALMOST 2 MILLION PEOPLE! If there were wholesale problems with it, it wouldn't be such a smashing success.
But it's not for everyone. It's a shared bus service. It's having your luggage delivered up to a few hours after you arrive. I can understand that some people are willing to pay for the personalized, private, pampering service offered by towncar services. But I do get a kick out of people who talk about not wanting to wait around for their luggage. To them, I usually say three things:
1) You don't have to wait around. The luggage gets delivered to the inside of your room whether you're there or not. To me, that's the MAGIC in MAGICAL EXPRESS. Go out and have fun.
2) If you need anything right away, pack it in your carry-on. I do this wherever and whenever I fly. WHY? Because AIRLINES can delay your luggage. I always pack for the first 24 hours in my carry-on no matter where I fly.
3) Why is it that you trust your airline to be responsible for your luggage for a thousand miles or whatever, but then you don't trust DME to transport it the last 20 miles or so???
When our luggage arrived in our room (on the 4th day DME was in operation), we didn't know it because we were in the pool with our two pre-schoolers enjoying the start of our vacation. A full change of clothes, swimsuits, PJs, medications, and toiletries takes up MUCH less space than it sounds like. Try it! And enjoy your vacation!
