In a sort of "last minute thing" Keith and I will be spending Thanksgiving in Hilton Head, South Carolina

Never really been there before ! (The resort looks beautiful ! What a piece of property they snagged ! ;) )

Our question is...For those that have... Is there a *great* place to make ressies for Thanksgiving dinner ?

It'll be a total of eight of us (six adults, and two 12 year-old nieces who are now WAY too cool for anything Disney. ;) )

Would we be better off making reservations at the restaurant on property, or is there a GREAT place to eat that's an easy cab ride away ?

(One member of our party wants to eat at Paula Deen's, but I'm thinking it's too far away, and will probably be too crowded....)

Plus, as a totally left field question, does anyone know the name of a good local florist in town ?

Thanks, my fellow DISer's ! :smickey:

I can't comment for Thanksgiving week, but we were there the first full week of November in 2005 (Jersey Week!), and the restaurant on site (at the beach front place) was not open....at all. The snack bar was open from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. If you haven't called, I would to verify what exactly will be open while you're there. It may be different because it's Thanksgiving.

As for Paula Deen's, we did go to Savannah one day. They do not take reservations, and the line for lunch before the doors had even opened was around the block. You may want to try it, but not on Thanksgiving.

The resort is gorgeous, the staff was wonderful. There were activities all through the week to keep the kids busy...arts and crafts as well as biology/oceanography themed activities (they discussed oyster beds). For the entire family, there was a nature walk and a hidden Mickey hunt.

Have a wonderful trip!

We have been to HHI several times. The food on the island is outstanding for the most part. It can also be a tad expensive.
Disney's DVC is in an area know as the Shelter Cove area. When you come out from the Disney driveway you will cross a bridge. Immediately to your left is the Shelter Cove shopping area. There are several good restaurants there. Not to confuse you but the island is divided into "plantations". You will be in the Palmetto Dunes area. There are alot of very good restaurants and hotels with dining rooms in that area. However you will need transportation to get to them.
Savannah is about an hour away. Paula Deens restaurant is very good. We have not eaten in too many places in Savannah though.
You can go online an check the "hilton head island restaurant guide" watch for places in Shelter Cove and Palmetto Dunes.
I think you will love it!
We will be going down in October.....can't wait!

My Aunt lives in Hilton Head, I have emailed her to see what she thinks about somewhere for Thanksgiving dinner. :)

Thanks everyone for you help !

It is much appreciated. :smickey:

Any more opinions would also be welcomed.... :)

We have...

It seems like there are *hundreds* of restaurants in such a small area ! :headache:

I'll try to narrow our seach down to Shelter Cove and Palmetto Dunes....
