Resort Thread Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN Resort & Spa + Construction Updates!!

We visited all the pools at the Grand this morning - around 11 AM to just walk around. No one spoke to us, looked at magic bands, etc. (although a waitress came around and chatted with us at the Beach Pool). The pools were pretty light crowd wise.

We went to the Beach pool later in the afternoon to swim / hang out (around 3 PM) and again, no one looked at magic bands or anything to ensure we were resort guests.

I will say the crowds were pretty light - all 4 cabanas had family names on them but beyond that there was plenty of places to sit.

One thing I noticed that one elevator has paint details over it and the other is waiting to be repainted. I’m not sure I can remember what it was before but the one covered by the white walls of no peaking is blue with flowers currently almost like a painting

One more construction comment because it's driving me crazy: no additional tile has been laid around the Birdcage Bar since we have been here (Saturday).

I told my husband I feel like I could have it laid at this point - they are banging around and wandering around down there. We see people walking around and looking at plans. We see the stacks of tile yet to be laid. We hear them banging around.

It's as if they are in no hurry whatsoever to complete it.

(seriously - I know that tile layers can be hard to get and if the tile came in late they may have missed their window for the workers. I'm also beginning to wonder if they are laying a different tile (other than the herringbone) where the bar stools will go because there are packages of tiles visibly there but there is a clear "shape" of a border - see the blue tape holding it in place?)

When tile is being laid there is no walking around. That is likely why there has been no more tile work until a tiling window opens on the schedule.

That was my guess to be honest - this level of tile work requires a a master. We had some tile re-sealed several years ago and it had to be rescheduled a couple of times to get the right person.

And/or:

they are waiting for a coordinating tile that goes in the "center" section because I can't imagine they would just "stop" there with plenty of tile to "finish". Along the edge, next to the carpet there is a tiny section of tile making a border and it's taped down with painter's tape.

Here's a zoom in shot (from Monday) - this morning you could see some paper forms/patterns laying nearby.

One other note - if someone is a great photographer, there were plans just laid out in the tea room area ;-)

I can't really see the depth from here, but is the tile complete, but covered in the front since stuff is being staged on it? Or is the right side done and the left side incomplete?

This area from your photo looks completely tiled to me:

If you go back a couple pages, it appears as though it was complete around the sides? Is it possible they’re are laying a protective covering over it until they’re done with other work?
